i think spraying cryo at a frontmount intercooler is a nice way to bring some style to the racing theme but is it possible to spray nitro?

the effect should be not as high as spraying cryo...

has anyone done this?

I have the NOS intercooler kit. It is throttle activated so it sprays only when I'm at full throttle. I havent' used it on a hot day yet though. It shows on a dyno 50+whp. But I have yet to see it. I'll post up my dyno pulls after feb 5. Thats the day I go to Mach V and see what she lays down

The reason it added 50+ WHP on the dyno is because your motor was injesting nitrous, not because of some gargantuan air temp drop. Go log your AIT's on a run on the street spraying down your IC with nitrous. 15 degree reduction, 20 tops. 20 degrees of AIR doesn't make 50 WHP.

I am aware the motor ingested some nitrous. While sitting on the dyno you have the fan pushing air on IC, no where near the amount of air being shoved at it during a 12sec run. The nitrous will cool it down more there but you are right it does get sucked into the motor. Unfortunately I do not have a way to log my AIT's I do not have a logger or tuneable computer, if I did I would have already posted them

sry i ask about spraying nitro on my intercooler not into it

you are going to go to the what effectivly is the same installation labor as a nitrous kit and spend 4/5 of the cost of a real wet nitrous kit to get an IC sprayer that makes not even 1/5th of the power of a wet nitrous kit. not to mention that some random amount of nitirous getting to the air filter is completely unsafe :thumbdown

wow...that's great..do it

seriously if your going to mount a bottle in the car, just spray the nitrous into the engine and make the 50hp. spraying the outside of the intercooler is a waste of time and n20.

i know that there is no effect!
its only for some style...

why that?
if i spray cryo it could come into the airfilter too...
(and why should it be dangerious for the engine?)

sry explaine me that

thx

yes we are aware you are spraying ON the intercooler, not into it. The fact is, a small amount of nitrous is absorbed into the intercooler and ingested into the motor while the intercooler is being cooled down by the nitrous.

Co2 has the opposite effect....
I'd spray with N20 before Co2 on most cars.. With some care in regards to the air inlet/filter location it can be possible to minimize this but most people dont....

C02 sprayers can lose HP due to ingestion...

Correct. CO2 actually displaces the air going into the motor, you'd think its not a big deal but CO2 does not burn no where near as well as air. Cause of of CO2 not igniting as well as air does you actually lose hp.

WHAT? Nitrous being absorbed INTO the intercooler? As in migrating THROUGH the aluminium? Right.....

CO2 does not support combustion. Period.

What ever you spray it with it goes thru the fins and can find it's way to the airfilter and get sucked in...

That is the issue...

C02 = bad when it happens.

Yes, it's pretty obvious that anything sprayed in the vicinity of the air intake would get drawn in.

I'm just taking ldstang50's statement to task about nitrous being absorbed INTO the intercooler. I don't know about you but it really bugs me when misinformation is spread.

I meant intake sorry about that. I am using the express kit so I know no NOS gets into the air tract through the intercooler.

if i use a purge kit its possible that the same happend (nitro get into the airfilter)

but why should it be a problem?
its like a little shot nitro and will cool the intakeair down (cooler air=more o2)

but coud it burn?

it's like running a 5-10hp shot or something... Its' pre turbo entrance and long path meant that the really dense cool charge of something like a direct port wont happen...

Put the air filter in the SMIC's old home.. Just flip a hard intake pipe upside down then box it in and feed it with a duct like the stock SMIC was...
