need help diagnosing this problem.

Hey all, I recently have been running into a reoccurring issue with my 90 eclipse gst. Car will be driving perfectly fine on my way to work and when I clock out and to drive home it starts acting up.

Whats happening is the car is turning on but idling under 800~900. When I put it in gear the engine cuts out and I have to give it lots of gas just for it to drive. To better describe it the car "sputters" and thick black smoke comes out of the exhaust. When I finally get it going the rev limiter kicks in at about 4k. The car is basically not drivable but this doesn't happen every single day I drive the car. I would also like to add that the turbo doesn't appear to be spooling when this happens.

Any help would really be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Please try again with a more descriptive thread title. A generic thread title like this does not help me when browsing new threads to see if I can offer help or when searching old threads for info to help myself or others.
