Im looking at a 1991 eagle talon tsi

it HAS a NEW engine..... My question is

HOW do I tell it's a TURBO engine and not a ESI engine?

anyway I tell? what do I look for?

im talking about the ENGINE>..

IT IS a TSI.

he just put in a WHOLE NEW MOTOR.

and How Do I tell if it's a Turbo motor

or an Esi motor.

well on 1g's only the internals are different (except for the 1.8 obviousley). So I don't think theres a way to tell just by looking at it. theres might be a serial number or something stamped on the block, if there is you could get it and maybe call mitsubishi and find out.

if they did replace it with a ESI Engine.

Will it melt the engine?

or would I be safe?

here is the story the guy is telling me....

the guy that owned it before has his belt snap.
so it made the valves and everything mess up

and the guy at the shop said they fixed it fine
and im thinking of buying hte car
but I don't want to make the wrong choice.

I mean I don't want to get ripped off if the guy at the shop made a mistake or didn't use the right valves. I don't want the guy to rip me off ya know

I believe only the turbo engine has the knock sensor behind and below the intake manifold. Look for it.
