brake booster question

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

You can use a larger one from a Galant or even a 3G Eclipse, a little bit tight but they do fit.

So 3g eclipse brake booster would work? Is this tested and confirmed? Having a b***h of a time trying to find someone locally with a turbo brake booster. Junk yard has no turbo eclipses, however, there are a couple 3g's laying around.

A 3G booster will work as long as its without traction control. You can use your master with it the pattern is the same. It's a bigger booster so it'll help more.

Since your messing with the boost don't forget to make sure that one way valve in the booster line is in the right direction.

Is there an easy way to tell if the 3g have abs or not. It seems to me w/a more modern released car they would all have abs. Its hard to find a vehicle that was built in the last 15 years that doesn't have abs standard.

What's the difference between the ABS and non-ABS boosters?

Sorry I posted the wrong thing and edited my post. You need to make sure the booster is one without traction control. Its tied together. The abs has nothing to do with the booster. You think I wouldve remembered that since I dug around the wrecking yard for the weekend to pull one for my auto car.

One quick way to tell is if it has a Traction Control Fuse/Relay under the hood in the fuse box. If it doesn't have one in the spot for it, then it doesn't have it. If it does, it does. I'm pretty sure they all have a spot for it though LOL.

Another giveaway is if the car is a manual transmission , then it will NOT have it.

That feature only came in the A/T Sporttronics GT and GTS cars.

Basically, if the car is A/T and has a rear wiper, then it has Traction Control. There is no button in the car for it however.

Here is a thread that might have some more identification tips.

what year/model has the traction control? - Club3G Forum : Mitsubishi Eclipse 3G Forums

Good luck!

Thank you very much, the fuse would be a good way to check, however, junk yard. People would rather save $3-$10 by taking fused than buying new. I will certainly use this information when rummaging around the junkyard tomorrow.
