HELP!!! 93 sohc issues

Ok so I bought this 93 talon n/a today in jacksonville fl. And while driving the 150 miles back to savannah the car intermittently "choked, bucked and sputtered", I checked the dizzy and its turned all the way advanced, so I checked the plug wires and it looked like they are wired one plus advanced on each wire.
I havnt checked the timing yet because I figured I would give a call to a dsm owner/builder on ft. Stewart to see if he had any suggestions, he wants to meet with me tomorrow evening to check it out, but before I meet with him he told me to put a hit here on dsmtuners.com...
Can someone help, I really don't have the funds to do a 4g63t swap the same week I bought the car, as bad as I would love to. but "my wife will kill me and so will my inlaws", its the only car we have right now so I need it up to par.

Any and all tips are appreciated

Scott

UPDATE!!!

Ok so today I checked my timing and its dead on, but it seems now like as soon as the engine gets warmed up it develops the studder and sputter, can anyone give me some pointers, because im starting to think its either in the dizzy or its the head gasket....

Problem solved its the headgasket, replacing timing belt, tentioner, water pump, headgasket and thermostat tomorrow,
will post pics of head gasket and the thermostat when I pull the head gasket, found that the thermostat was bad along with the temp sensor, which in turn killed the head gasket
