Still need to buy 3/8 BSPT plug for OFH

I have searched and have not found a direct answer. The j-pipe that I have does not have a nipple on it. Do I need to tap the j-pipe and add a nipple? I do not have a MBC. Can I install without having to tap the j-pipe. The car is basically stock I am putting the new turbo on because the seals blew on out the t-25.

If you don't have a mbc then you can still install this without a problem. It will just boost at wastegate pressure and nothing more. If you want to get a mbc later, I would get it tapped with a nipple, or just get a new j-pipe that has one.

The right way to do it would be to tap the j-pipe or the compressor cover and run straight to the wastegate actuator until you decide to add a boost controller. Ideally you want to have it right there at the compressor cover or j-pipe, because that ensures the best possible and quickest boost control.:D

I do not have a problem tapping the j-pipe. Just need to know if I need to do it. The reason I ask beacuse the write up I am going to follow How to: Replace your T25 with a MHI Turbo (14b/16g) - Team-2G Mitsubishi Forum says to connect the vacuum hose that came off the t-25 to the j-pipe nipple.
It says that because they're referring to the factory 1G j-pipe, which has a nipple for the wastegate accuator. Go ahead and add a nipple to your j-pipe. The walls of the tubing might be too thin to drill and tap, so you might need to weld on a bung.

Where is the best place to tap the j-pipe at A or B? At point A the pipe feels thicker than it does at point B. I am leaning towards point A but it that too close to the flange?

thread revive, I want to do this today, but for my 1g talon. The pipe has no nipple, so just drill and use a 1/8 inch fitting? I have a completly stock talon, no MBC but will get one in the future.

Personally i got sick of dealing with j pipes and attaching nipples to them, welding or drilling and tapping. The metal is really thin on most of these aluminum j pipes.

I suggest something like this. Drill and tap the small bolt hole that holds the coolant feel line in place. I used a 1/8 npt tap with a 11/32 inch drill bit. goodluck:
