throttle always at redline???

i was on my way to class on the highway and noticed my car wouldn't stop accelerating and it was hard to brake, i thought maybe put it in neutral, well soon as i touched the clutch the RPMs kicked up to redline, i slowed to about 20MPH and tried putting it in neutral, the RPMs were about 1800-2000 and soon as i hit the clutch it revved to 6000-6500 so I put it in neutral and it stayed up there so i shut it down, i checked the throttle cable and TB to make sure that was okay and it was. I then tried restarting the car and soon as it fired up it immediately revved to about 6500, any thoughts on this would be appreciated. thank you

DO you have a turbo timer??

I had the almost same thing happen to me untill I pulled the TT out..

I would start withcleaning you throttle body, and checking the throttle cable itself..

yes there's a greddy turbo timer, but i've never even turned it on

did you check to see if your throttle body is sticking open? You MIGHT need to clean the butterfly inside. Just a guess but worth checking out. I would also check to see if your cable is catching on something and keeping it from returning to its idle position.

i've checked both of those, and neither seem to be the issue

Really bad tps or maf & or huge vac/boost leak

rechecked TB and cable and they seem okay, checked for boost leaks that checked out, anyway to test maf or tps?

Is the tt wired up? that is my guess.

im not sure if the turbo timer is hardwired or plugged in, i dont like messing with electrical, would it be very hard to disconnect it?

There should be a write up on this site for a TT install. Best thing to do is find that and then retrace the wires. I dont believe the problem is a short, but it would be a good first step.
