So I'm trying to figure my jigsaw puzzle of an engine bay ..I got a couple of hoses that I have no idea where they belong?

first this nipple has a piece of hose that is free floating this is on firewall behind steering column

Then this hose is on top of intake manifold...where does it go (I know its cut short)

The first 2 pictures those lines need to connect to eachother with a check valve. Thats the brake booster.

The water lines i am not sure which one connects where on the throttle body. I would just cap them off unless you live in a cold climate.

The Cut hose on the back of the Intake manifold goes to the brake Booster which is located on the firewall on the driver side. Looks like a black 'Plate'. Per this picture, the Brake Booster looks like it should have a hose on it that matches that which is cut on the Intake Manifold.

The second is the Coolant lines that run from the main feed line to the heater Core to the throttle Body. I would simply hook those up. There should be 2 nozzles on the Throttle Body. There should also be 2 nipples on the hoses that run toa nd from the Heater Core. The hose that is cut with a hose clamp on it in the last picture, run a hose from that to the throttle body. There should be another like that one that you run from the bottom of the throttle body back into the coolant system. This allows for your vehicle to start easier and idle better in cold weather.

Hopefully this clears up the water lines. As Kei mentioned, numbers 4 and 11 go to the heater core. For what it's worth, number 3 is the feed to the throttle body and number 10 is the return.

I know this is over a year old, but I am looking for a replacement throttle body water feed hose. You can see where it comes off the thermostat in this picture it is letter C...

and the other end connects to the fitting right under the throttle body... (the one that has the blue tape over it)

My question is..

Do I need an exact replacement, or can I just use a regular coolant hose and cut it to size to fit the two fittings and just hose clamp it on? Thanks

Go to your local parts store and ask if they have a replacement hose. If they don't, then yeah I would use just a regular coolant hose and put some compressor style screw clamps on it.

Ya, after more thought on it I think a regular coolant hose that fits that diameter will be fine it won't be too close to the block to overheat. And I think the regular hose clamps that have been holding the old one on the whole time would still be alright for the new hose if tightened enough...

My other quick question is if anyone has any good info on priming the coolant system seeing as my car hasn't had coolant in it in over two years.

Just make sure there is fluid in the reservoir tank. The system will burp itself if it's functioning correctly. Otherwise, fill it up - turn your heat on full blast, and wait until it cycles. Add coolant as needed.

Thanks for the info. I was looking up some methods of burping the system and have a good idea of how to do it. I did not know about turning the heat up full however and thanks for the reminder of the reservoir tank.

Any specific coolant you guys get from local auto shops that you have had good luck with or are better for my car than others?

I have a 1g but I just run the green Prestone stuff. I think it says 'extended life antifreeze' or something to that effect. Never really had a problem with it, just make sure you don't buy the premixed stuff. That's such a rip off.

So I've become very familiar with Prestone full strength... I've gone through 2 full jugs on my system already. Reason being is I haven't had coolant or any other fluids in for about 3 years and the coolant was turning very nasty brown and murky right after I ran it.

I have flushed the system twice after the first coolant fill-up and another two times after the second coolant fill-up. After wasting so much money on coolant I was pouring down the drain, I decided to run the engine idle on all water in the system. I let it idle for a good 5-10 minutes and after it cooled down I drained what was left and it wasn't as bad as the first couple of times. I am planning on doing this tomorrow one more time and using a bottle of coolant cleaner and flush I bought today.

My only other question is that my lower radiator hose did not feel anywhere near as hot as my upper one. I just took both of the elbows off of the thermostat housing and removed the thermostat to take a look at it. It looked like it was still new with no signs of rusting or corrosion and the spring still had great actuation so I figured it was still good. I cleaned and RTV'd the elbow fittings back on and torqued them down and when I was running the system there is no leaks.

I just don't know if I am not letting the car get hot enough to get the thermostat open and that is why the lower hose is cool? Or if there may be something else wrong with the system? Any thoughts..

For simply flushing the system you can run distilled water for a day or two. Read up on adding cleaners to the system to flush out the crap

I have the same deal as yours, nasty lookin water. For me though, I know it's not a blown head gasket since I did a cylinder leak down test just within that week (50psi). I also have pictures of mysterious chunks found in the cooling jackets. We got out as much as possible with a coat hanger and the hot tanking, but I fear some is still in there. Not really sure how to handle it but I plan on trying some new cleaning methods now that the engine is installed and been running for a couple weeks now

I am now running probably 80% distilled water and the rest with Peak Radiator Cleaner and Flush and a little bit of coolant. Fan kicks on around ~205-210 degrees on coolant and seems to maintain it around a steady 200 when driving. Do these temps seem okay for the stock cooling system?

Considering most thermostats including ours are 195*F I would say your right on target. My 1g runs right in the middle of the gauge, I'm sure yours is probably the same.
