I bought this header on ebay. I know, you get what you pay for, but I was hoping for something that at least fit. LOL. I went to put it on, and they actually welded the flange on backwards where it bolts to the head. The bolt holes on each end are spaced different, and they have it flipped over so the wrong spacing is at the wrong end. The bad thing is that the seller "just-intercoolers" just keeps telling me that from the pics it looks like it could be adjusted. They said "please have a proffesional modified mechanic adjust it". Um no, I want a part that is made right to start with. I am actually an ASE certified mechanic anyway. It might be possible to get it to bolt up by elongating the 2 end holes, but the one I would have to slot clear out of the side of the flange. They need to send me one that is properly made.

File a Paypal claim, send the shitty manifold back to them, and once you get your money back buy a 2G manifold and port the collector, or pick up an Evo III manifold.

Even if you got that tubular manifold to fit, the longest it would last before it cracks is around 8 months of daily driving. They're junk.

Where would one find an Evo III manifold?
Literally any of our site's wonderful supporting vendors that deal with DSM parts should be able to help you out. I believe the factory part number is MR224509.

I have a 2g manifold now. What do you mean by the port collector?

Oh, you said port the collector. LOL. Cant read today.

Pics? I just wanted to see how bad it actually was LOL. get a 2g and port it. Or at least get a pacesetter from summit racing that way WHEN NOT IF When it cracks you can actually get customer service and get it replaced.

I have pics of the gasket overlaying it. Its like if the flange is laying down and you pick it up and flip it over so that the left end is where the right end is supposed to be. The 2 end bolt holes are then offset.

I hope you're joking.

Good buddy of mine bought a Pacesetter tubular manifold from Summit; in 6-8 months the #4 runner had completely broken away from the collector. He contacted Summit, they told him to contact Pacesetter. Pacesetter said that because the header was wrapped (this was done in effort to keep the paint from burning off the valve cover, which it had already started to do) the warranty was void....like the wrapping was totally responsible for the failure of their shitty manifold.

End result was $200 down the drain, and the manifold in the scrap pile.

Here I have laid the gasket over it how the flange should be facing. With it facing the way it is it wont slide over the studs but the gasket will the way it is facing. Its kind of hard to explain.

I will say though that the header does seem pretty heavy duty compared to what I had thought it might. In the pics I have the gasket lined up with the 2 outer holes. Even with the flange backwards, I can move it over, and then the header would line up with all but the 2 end holes on the head. I would have to elongate both holes pretty far. The one on the transmission side of the motor would have to be to the point where it wasnt a bolt hole, but a slot.

These last three pictures show the gasket lined up with all but the outer 2 bolt holes. If Iwas going to try to use it this shows how I would have to elongate the outer 2 holes.

Send it back and take this as a lesson learned. I bought a nice LOOKING front mount off of ebay from a decent seller and it was a nightmare. 300$ down the drain when i got the punishment kit for 100$ more with more piping and a better core. Point is avoid ebay knockoffs when you can.:thumb:

i just bought a punishment manifold friday it has not got here yet, are you saying it is gonna fit just fine i bought it straight from punishment it is the DSMbudget3manifold, you think i am gonna be good with that?

Surprise, surprise... You paid for sh*t and sh*t is what showed up... I would highly recommend you look in to a FP manifold. Those CXRacing onces are 2/3rds of the price a FP one is. I bet you are now thinking :aha: I should have spent and extra $70.

Well, I tried to get them to exchange it. They claim that they are all the same and said that if I want to exchange, that it will cost me a 51.80 restocking fee and I have to pay to ship back to them. That is ####ing bs since it is a defective item. How can you expect to restock a defective part. And to return it, they will charge me a 20% restocking fee plus 20 dollars for handling. Needless to say, this is unacceptable. I filed a paypal dispute, which I have a feeling will become a claim before long.

Glad you filed a claim as there is no reason for you to pay to send it back or for restocking as it is defective

It looks like complete crap. The ports on the runners are extremely small, welding looks poor. IMO you would loose spool and power using that thing!

I have already filed a dispute, and if they dont refund me then it will escalate to a claim.

As far as the ports, I thought they looked small when compared to the gasket as well, but I put the gasket on the head, and the ports in the head are actually signifigantly smaller than the openings in the gasket as well.

i have the same just-intercoolers/cxracing manifold - no problems at all - after about a year and a half, no cracking or anything

Never heard of that brand.. You should have stuck to something well known and also affordable like Megan racing headers. I and a few others members on this board have bought the headers from ebay and their pretty good.

Also yeah try to file a paypal claim as mentioned the only thing that will suck is that most likely you'll have to pay for return shipping :(

Well, paypal ruled in my favor. They stated that the seller would have to refund the money if I send the header back. I would have to pay return shipping, and honestly even if I bought the same header again, I would have to spend 10 dollars more on it to buy it from a different seller. I decided that the extra cost isnt worth it especially since the reason I got this header was because it was cheap. So I just slotted the 2 end bolt holes to fit on the studs. Then I had to grind off the end of the flange on the accessory side of the motor so that the flange would clear the power steering bracket.

I will say that other than the flange being welded on backwards, the header seems pretty heavy duty. Also, as far as the port size, the gasket that comes with it matches both the header port, and the ports in the head almost exactly, so I would say that the primaries are very close to exactly the same size as the ports. If I would have gotten a header that was not made improperly, I think I would have been fairly impressed with it for the price.

I agree with the others, the word for today is Turbulence-
1. the quality or state of being turbulent; violent disorder or commotion.
2. Hydraulics . the haphazard secondary motion caused by eddies within a moving fluid.
3. Meteorology . irregular motion of the atmosphere, as that indicated by gusts and lulls in the wind.

You sir, are an idiot.

Paypal is letting you send it back! Take the $10 hit before taking an exponentially greater hit when it cracks and becomes junk! Jesus the ####ing thing doesn't fit! It's like you're letting them get away with that!!!
:ohdamn:
