Does anyone know what this little black box is? looks like an evap canister or something like it. Can I remove it or relocate it? It is interfering with my front mount piping.

i kinda want to say its your a/c condenser, but im thinkin im completely wrong

yes you are a condenser looks like this.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/302815-suppose-charcoal-canister.html

make sure you properly cap everything off to avoid vacuum leaks.
i believe 98 year model and up have different placement than previous years.

That is what I thought it was thank you for the help and the link. Evap canister and charcoal canister are the same thing are they not?

Many people like the VRSF over the PR because it is a true short route fmic, it just isn't a very known company yet but they're getting bigger faster. The kit is also cheaper and has been used on many high horsepower cars, it is almost comparable to a ETS kit IMO. I say this because I just got done installing one.

Thank You!

If you want install pics/tips PM me and I'll send you some. There is a few things that need to be addressed when installing the kit, sadly I didn't have that kind of help and sort of had to figure things out on my own.

Your VERY wrong on this, don't post info that you have no idea what your talking about. :nono:

Are you kidding me? Trust me I've been here long enough to back up and know that everything I post is 100% correct...ok? I won't even go into finding links and sources for you to stuff your brains with because honestly, it's not worth to me. Maybe I should treat you like a newb and tell you to go search and do your research before you tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about..GTFOH

id say go with a xs-power fmic. it's a short route and you can get it shipped for $300. i helped a buddy of mine put one on his gst. it's a nice kit for the money. no need to dish out like...$800 on an intercooler kit since it's nothing more than aluminum piping and no moving parts.

vrsf improves on the xs power. ive had both. i did a detailed write up somewhere on the tech section or reviews.

ive looked into the punishment one. i dont see anything wrong with it. i was close to getting it. seeing photos and studying it carefully. its actually easier to mount the "core" ont he PR kit. also no need to cut radiator support, and xs doesnt come with bolts ot actually mount the kit, and the vrsf one does, but its not even correct length or thread, you have to go to hardware store.

on top of that bov flange on vrsf is slotted so big the washer goes through, need to get oversized one.

That was an amazing write up. :thumb: At first look the SSAC and VRSF are identical but I like how you showed detailed pictures and explained everything. Too bad you didn't have a Punishment Racing kit to compare as well.

If you look at the above review you will see that the VSRF is very comparable with the SSAC (ebay), not ETS. It seems that VRSF is one step above SSAC because of their customer service.

That is the same way I see the Punishment Racing kit. It is comparible with the CX Racing kit (ebay) but one step above because it is coming from a reputable dealer and you get their customer service.

**1G**
VRSF - $ 319.99 (core and piping) + $69.99 (J-pipe) + Shipping = $ 389.98 + Shipping

Punishment Racing - $399.99 (includes j-pipe and free shipping) = $399.99 shipped.

Plus when Punishment puts it on sale (several times a year) its like $379.99 shipped.

PR - 26"x8"x3.5" Bar and Plate core
VRSF - 24"x8"x3.5" Bar and Plate core

Plus prices between VRSF and PR are nearly identical, like I've already mentioned on the above thread. (According to dsmdeliveryboy if you call VRSF they can get you the 1g kit for $380 shipped which is the exact same price as PR's kit when it is on sale) It comes down to which one you want. I am a big fan of Punishment Racing and have used many of their products so I am also going to use their intercooler kit.

It all comes down to which brand you like best.

(Oh yeah and the PR kit is 2" longer. I hear bigger is better. :sneaky:)

+1. Id buy another ETS over anything. No trimming, cutting, or anything. smooth fitment, great for performance

Exactly... - admin edit -

Could you explain why it is better? I am interested to know the differences.

ETS is a more reputable company than both PR and VRSF (in my opinion) and I know alot of other members would agree with me on this. They have been around for the longest and I still consider them as the best FMIC manufacturer out there for dsms. Their kits are made in the US (piping and endtanks I believe, not sure where they get their cores from) and fitment is second to none with minor to no fabrication needed (except bumper cover of course). Look in my gallery and you will see the 7" core on my car. Now the only issue with this is that it seems like their kits might be out of your price range as their cheapest kit costs upwards of $650 and range to over $1000 but trust me it is worth every penny and not to mention that they have been proven on high HP cars and on the dyno.

I'm not knocking the VRSF kit but I myself prefer the PR kit over the VRSF kit but that's just because I like a FMIC where the endtanks show and it's really just personal preference. The VRSF kit was originally made (the design) by AGP which was later copied by XSPower/SSAutochrome (similar to how OBX copied the original Apexi FMIC kits) and now recently being sold by VRSF. There's also countless Ebay sellers that have this kit for sale. Here's a few:

Check out this thread here, this is kinda where this kit blew up and almost every dsm'er on a budget purchased one: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...alk-ebay-fmic-especially-if-you-have-one.html

VRSF have done improvements to the kit correcting known problems that existed (leaky BOV flange, leaky throttle body elbow flange) along with making it easier to mount and with one less piece of pipe I believe. There are also a few members on here that have made over 500HP on this kit and has dyno results to prove it.

The PR racing kit which also seems to be sold by ETD Motors/CX Racing on Ebay (some strange partnership going on here it seems) is a really nice kit as I've helped my buddy install his on his 97 GSX (also told him to purchase it). The core mounts up perfectly with the ease of using the supplied mounting bar which barely took any effort. The piping fitment was perfect and is also available in powdercoated black. Cutting the bumper cover is required because of the extra space that the core takes up (which is common with almost every FMIC kit). However, I've not seen any dyno numbers as yet and my friend will hopefully dyno his car soon and is hoping to make over 380 AWHP. I've also heard that a few members with automatic dsms have had problems with installing the piping. You can get all the info on the PR kit here:
