help with remote starter reservation mode

I have a 1127M Ultra Start remote starter/keyless entry. This is my 3rd install but 1st on a manual transmission.

It requires being put into 'reservation mode' which is achieved by set by starting the car, putting the parking brake on, pressing the start button, pulling the keys, exiting the vehicle, closing the door and holding down the start button to shut it off.

It all goes well until I open the door. The car shuts off right away stopping the process. I have the open door detection wire (-) wired into the red/green dome light wire so it is working. When I disconnect the wire I can exit and remotely shut the car off, but still get the error code for 'not in reservation mode'.

I contacted ultra start but since I bought it on ebay I think I'm out of luck there. I'm really baffled so any help would be appreciated.

so you have the door detection (-) hooked up to the dome light (+) correct? i am no genious but i know (+) and (-) dont work so well when hooked together???

2g dsms have a negative polarity lighting system. The wire is negative.
