So ive been looking around for a new radiator for my 91 tsi as my stock one leaks a little bit and is pretty beat up. Im a college student so im on a pretty tight budget for my projects. I saw this radiator on ebay and it seems pretty solid. I searched and found a thread on here about these radiators in a 1g, but nothing about their performance once installed. My goals are 350-400 h.p and driving it occasionally as it is not my d.d. My question is do you guys think this radiator will be efficient for my goals? also, has anyone had any experience with this radiator? thanks in advance guys

awesome mishimoto was actually another brand that i was looking into. I also was checking out the punishment radiators, but they seem very similar to CXRacing, same with the FMIC kit that i purchased also :hmm:

Not saying they are the same thing but i wonder how much of a difference there is between the two.

That is very strange considering the radiators on ebay are considerably cheaper. Anyone else have any experience with any of these radiators that they could give me some feedback about them to help my decision?

Punshment Racing and CXRacing went in together and built some cheaper reliible parts togehter. The radiators, manifolds and intercoolers are all the same because the designed them together they had a partnership on it because Punshment Racing needed more insite on it, thats all. So yes the pictures are the same for alot af there stuff LOL.

I have a friend with the CX Racing radiator in his 4g63T Hyundai Elantra. He loves it. He's making more than 350whp and had no issues with only a single 10" fan on it. I'll be getting one for my Colt.

I have a Koyo on my GSX now and make 357whp. No issues and I still have AC. My radiator fan even died once and it was a year before I noticed because it still wasn't overheating.

The heat transfer is so much more efficient, that any aluminum radiator should last you well past your goals.

+1, except the manifolds. I'm pretty sure PR makes thier own manifolds and o2 housings. They do sell DNP and FP manifolds, in addition to PR ones.

To the OP, I have both the 1g and 2g PR radiator kits, and the work great. I saw a solid 20 degree drop in my average coolant temps on my 2g just from switching from the stock setup to the PR setup.

I run a cxracing radiator and shroud. It was the only thing that stopped my overheating on my dd with ac on. It's top notch especially the shroud. One thing you guys are dead wrong about is that punishment does not build, help build or design their intercoolers or radiators. They strictly buy them from cxracing and resell for higher.

As said above, the radiators and FMIC's from CXracing and Punishment are the same. Personally, I'd buy from Punishment, as I've had good experience with in the past, and would rather pay an extra few bucks for the customer support if I ever needed it (like if it was banged up in shipping). You can also get the kit with a pair of slimline fans and shroud from Punishment.

My .02, so take it for what it's worth to you.

ROFL That's funny. You have to be really careful about what you buy on ebay. A lot of it is junk that'll do more harm than good but CXRacing (the company in question) sells some of the exact same parts as Punishment Racing. I got an intercooler from CXRacing for $105 shipped (exact same intercooler as punishment racing) and a short route piping kit for $80 shipped that is very close to punishment racing's piping. They even sell the FMIC bracket like Punishment racing for like $40 (which I didn't buy). For $185 I got a pretty nice FMIC kit. It's not all garbage. We'd all love to have names like GReddy and Dejon under our hood but we can't afford it. We have to do the best with what we have.

Thank you all for the feedback. Im pretty sure that im going to go with the CXRacing radiator as many of you have had good experiences with it. As soon as i get it installed ill post some pics and leave some feedback of my own about it.

Ryan any pictures of the shroud? I've never seen it or heard about something like it being sold by them.

Both CXRacing and PR sell thier kits with the shrouds. Also, people need to remember that with the $41 CXR charges for shipping you will pay $290 for that kit. PR's ships for $270.

Had to do it. TOO many DSM guys buy evey little thing they can off of there and have to repair it later and spend way more then what it would cost to do it right the first time. As for shop names that you know like these guys then go for it. I have bought couplers and IC pipe from them a few times and have got nothing but good pieces that i have paid double for at extreme or SBR.
