What belts go to what on a 1G talon. My car blew a belt last night and i have no idea where it goes. It looks like it goes under the intake manifold. Whats this belt for?

So its not important if it breaks completely off. I was driving last night and i stepped on the throttle and i heard Slapping. So i got it home looked under the hood and this belt looks shredded like something cut it.

Take alook at your other belts also, one runs your water pump and alternator, this one is impotant to have. And if it is for your ac that belt doesnt have to be on there, but if you want your ac to run(if it works) you will need that belt. Also if the torn belt is still there remove it so it doenst damage anything.,

Ya it is. Im going to cut it off. But this belt is pretty much in the middle of my timing belt and it goes to the back of the intake manifold area. This is my AC belt? Where does my water pump belt go? This is my most upper further to the right belt. Its a smaller guy.

The water pump uses the same belt as the alternator. It also goes around the crank pulley. The power steering pump belt goes around the water pump pulley as well (It's the smallest belt).

The A/C belt goes around the crank pulley, the A/C compressor pulley and the A/C tensioner pulley.

Look at this diagram below.

Locate your power steering pump, That belt should be a v belt(since you a have 1g) that goes straight to you water pump. There is another belt on the water pump, this runs both you water pump and alternator, this one is very important to have on. I would would chack for wear. I dont know if your timing belt is exposed dont cut that one, it would have clogs on it (teeth).

Thanks for the diagram. Ya its the AC belt. WTF would cause that to just splice like that. I dont use my AC. As far as my timing belt goes yes its exposed and its like 10x's the size of any other belt thickness wise so it wont be cut.

Belt # 040372

Looks like excessive outside wear / rubbing. Belt was also too tight you can tell how it was snapped. So my final conclusion on "How it broke" is tension to tight, excessive rubbing causing a small fissure and with the tension being so tight it snap part of the belt.

Is your timing belt exposed at the very top (valve cover area) or below, behind the accessory belts? I would recommend getting the timing belt covers to keep bad things from getting to the timing belt. If your timing belt is exposed below, a broken A/C belt or something could get wrapped in your timing belt and cause severe engine damage.

I have the cover just no the hardware to put it back on. And man i am starting to not like this car. Now i got puddles of fluids under my car. Looks like oil. So the loud rattle at high RPMS in neutral possibly could mean the worse (transfer case). If this car doesnt get fixed here soon ill be parting it out. The car also has a boost leak some where cause my car only hits 5psi in both gauges. So im going to go get my car inspected today.

Good WTF Luck

Hopefully, it's not something too serious. Maybe, you can see exactly where the fluid is coming from and check to make sure the leak isn't because of any loose bolts.

I made a boost leak tester for about 6 or 7 dollars. If you don't have an air tank, one can be bought for about $20 but, a compressor would be better. I recently found leaks at the biss, pcv valve and at the throttle body shaft seals. Those are very common leak spots. Also the lower fuel injector seals is another common location. All those seals become hard like plastic when they get old. Good luck.
