running rich...PLEASE HELP

I put my 90 GSX in the shop for the timing belt. When I got my car back, it was running rich. I mean when I first turned it over, it was acting like it was getting too much fuel. At one point it even died on me. It wasn't dong that before I took it to have it worked on. Any ideas? I'm lost. The mechanic told me the car was running good earlier in the morning. please help!!!!

did u mess around with your BOV

noone messed with the turbo or the BOV, to my knowledge. the only thing that was done was the timing belt. i thought the ecu was supposed to set it automatically.....

So if you just got the car back........ TAKE IT BACK to the repair shop and let them look it over!!. If they are at all reputable, they should not give you a fight.

One of the cams is probably a tooth off. Take it back and have them check the cam timing. Often if a cam is a tooth off it will stumble / die at idle and not have as much power.

I agree 100%. it is out of time, did the belt break is that why it was replaced. If so you probably have bent valves on the intake side and you are loosing compression. have a compression test done. you should have somewhere between 145psi and 160psi across all 4 cylinders. also your base timing could be off but the computer will compensate to make the car run, but it is running retarded as opposed to advance. maybe so much that when the computer advances the timing it is only getting to base timing specs. good luck
