St. Catharines,
ok so heres my story. I bought a full long block from some guy on kijjji. The engine was new and was never cranked over. When i finally started to swap parts on it i noticed that i had a 6bolt head and a 7bolt bottom end. After getting the car running, i had the timing belt jump 2and half teeth. i almost positive a bolt fell in their due to not having a middle cover. I didnt bend valves, but did notice that i had a 1g7bolt auto tensioner, 6bolt tensioner arm, 2g tensioner pulley, and i had to grind my 97 mount down to fit the block, because the mount that came with the engine would not bolt up to my motor mount. So ya this is kinda a mess, anyway second run around, the post that the tensioner arm sits on broke loose from the mount and i bent 6 intake valves. fixed the car again, put it back together and i hear i loud winning sound, i took the cover apart again and noticed that the belt is touching the tensioner arm. I dont know why its toucing it, because it did not make this noise before and im almost positive it wasnt touching. Now if my tension was slightly off could it cause the belt to touch that mount? also i think i might have a 1g 7bolt bottom end, how can i tell? if this is so which it looks to be since the timing components are so mismatched, is their a difference in tensioner arms for a 1g7bolt as well as tensioner pulleys?
