Ok, So this last weekend i was being a jackass and i was racing a Nissan 240SX. I won the race only by about a foot. But right at the finish line where you turn around, there was something in the lane and i couldnt stop soon enough before i hit it. Luckily i was only going about 30-45 but my front drivers side rim is totally f*cked up and i have some bar hanging down on the passengers side. the Bar appears to be connected to the bottom of the front bumper and goes towards the back of the car. i HAVE looked and so far no one has asked yet. i have searched almost EVERY SiNGLE suspension post with no help. it's not a balljoint and i am not trying to swap my suspension to eibachs or anything (not yet at least) So everything i have read was like a wasted 4 hours. So here i am posting asking you what did i f*ck up now?:sosad:

sure is....wtf did you hit? and why on the street man? take it somewhere where there isnt gonna be random things in the road....what if that had been a kid? Im sure you did everything you could have to avoid that thing to no avail (just think about it).... not trying to preach and I am being a tad bit hypocritical but obviously yall werent wise about the spot if there was debris in the road especially to do that kind of damage. Tell me this wasnt just a pointless rice race...did you get any money from this?

edit:nevermind you have a n/t and you were streetracing so that answers some questions

I was thinking crossmember too but you need some better pics I would guess that the bolts werent in good and when you hit it fell down cause that would be pretty hard to make it come down like that.

it wasn't a streetrace. it was at the Cordova Dragway Park ( www.cordovadrag.com/ )
And it was something metal. Looked like some kind of exhaust peice from another car from another race. My car's front end is low (the bottom lip of my front bumper is only 3 inches off the ground) it was that way when i first got it. the rear i think is still stock height though. the car still runs and all of my gauges still read normal but i didnt trust driving it like that. And i am wondering how difficult is it to find a new crossmember or how expensive is a new one?

Oh yeah, and i won 3 hundred off the guy. So that was nice

I bet that is the metal bar that goes along the bottom of your front bumper to reinforce it. It keeps your bumper from cracking if you happen to snag it on something small while backing up. My guess is that one of the bolts on it snagged and ripped that bar out of your front bumper. It just goes across the bottom edge of it.

If you look, part of the other half (still attached to the bottom) will run from where it's bent over to the driver's side.

your local junkyard would be your cheapest bet. You could also buy it new, shouldn't cost too much either.

That is one of the front strut braces used to reinforce your front bumber. It prevents up ward and downward motion(flopping) on the front bumber. Also isn't the strips job to keep debris off the track?

dont think you need a new one as long is not bent but you do need to take out the broken bolts from the frame under the radiator to replace them it shouldnt be expensive at all though

Good to hear:thumb: I retract my slight attitude....

it is still connected to the front bumper but the other 2 scews?/bolts? connected are out. i'm jacking the car up tomorrow to see how bad it really is. Not sure if theyre ripped out or if i could just put them back in or how bad the bar is if it needs to be replaced. Also, after something like this, should i look into getting it realligned or anything?

The support bar for the bumper isn't really important at all. If you're worried, either try to straighten it out or just fab another piece out of sheet metal.

I don't know if you should get your alignment checked. You can't really tell how much damage was done to the rim. The photo isn't the best.

Unless it was really big, I doubt it messed up your alignment.

if you look at the pics under the car to the front rim you can see the inside of the rim is dented and the first pic shows my hand going through the actual rim where it cracked and broke. Only thing holding it on is the outer shell which is still connected from the lugnuts. After i ran over that chunk of rusted and burnt of exhaust (looks kinda funny, it has a "X" design to it" but anyway after i hit it i only drove the car long enough to stop the car and call my friends and get it towed home. i swapped back to the stock rims today and need to jack it up tomorrow.

Go to Cordova on oct 4th and I will spank ya.

Was that 240 a silver with a huge rice muff on the back?

Did you tell the guy at the start finish line about what happend?

I have never had a problem there but they are so dang slow it takes forever to run.

No, the 240 was black with no spioler, as for the muff... With my exhaust i couldn't hear thiers and i didnt look at thiers really. But i did notice it had iowa plates.
And dude, you so WOULD spank me LOL. You have all wheel drive and turbo. i may not be all that bright but im not a total dumbass LOL.

And yes i was so pissed i was bitching at the guy who gives you your time ticket. They stopped the race for a few minutes to find it but after that happend i just wanted to get the hell out n see how bad i ####ed my shit up, you know?

As for how bad the damage is? Well, with my stock 14 rims on it still runs and the allignment and everything is good. Gauges all still read good. the metal bar is just the thing that stabalizes your bumper front lip like knochgoon24 said. Nothing important at all really, just an extra 3lbs on your car. Thanks everybody for adding your input and opinions. But the car ios all good and back on the road with no problems :)

If im not mistaken, doesnt the motor rest on that centermember. I know my car does. The AWD's are different but your motor mounts should be on the crossmember. Thats the center member it looks like. That piece is def. needed.

Based on the 3rd pic it isn't the center cross member. The cross member is alot thicker and wider than that bar.
