I was wondering compared to a stock 2G GSX model how much modification was done to the car below. Please post by saying if this car is completely modified or partially modifiied or little to none modification. Also, if you could tell me what is not modified and/or if this is a good modification.

Modified 2G GSX:
Performance-HKS racing 272/272 cams combo, dual voer valve springs, titanium retainers, Blits turbo timer, 2G big turbo, Apexi NL 3" turbo back exhaust, DNP tubular turbo manifold, Greddy type-s blow off valve, full turbo intake w/K&N cone filter, Greddy XL FMIC, Greddy upper&lower i/c piping, Aeromotive FPR w/gauge, Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, 3" GM MAF w/translator, B&M short throw shifter, NKG sparks plugs&wires, FIC 650CC fuel injectors, prothane eigine & tranny mountsBrembo slotted race rotors, DSM tuner link-allows your labtop to interface w/vehicle to view race data, statistics and change settings.

Bolt on mods with cams. I'd put it in the partially modded category. This is what I call a fully modified car - View Profile: twicks69 - DSMtuners.com

What the hell is a 2G big turbo? WTF Big T28?

If you buy it, upgrade the injectors, slap a bigger turbo and get a real FMIC kit. It has stock bottom end, stock tranny and stock clutch (from the mods list).

I personally wouldn't buy a car from someone that can't spell laptop and engine right. Based on the list, it appears that the seller obviously doesn't know anything about DSMs.

The car is definitly modified, mostly basic bolt ons.

Oh and by the way what the hell is a 2G big turbo?

I have no clue what a 2G big turbo is, as you can see i'm still a newbie about modifying DSMs, but I just found this car with these modifications and wanted to know your input on this car because I have no knowledge what so ever on modifications so I'd say this isn't so good of a modification?

Ok, good to hear that. Im guessing I should trust your words because you seem really knowledgable about DSMs.

Do you know if there are any problems with the car. I mean if nothing is wrong with it and its priced low, i'm assuming it's being sold. I'd buy it if the price is right. Nothing wrong with getting a car already modified but, that;s just my opinion.

its being priced at $13,000, with 73,000 miles on it so what do you think? Gosh I need to be more knowledgable at this. I wanna be able to make my own good decisions, but right now I dont know much so, I NEED YOU GUYS!

The reason i ask if it is really modified a lot is because I wanna modify it myself too, because I don't want to modify a car that has nothing to modify.

I want a Modded DSM that i did myself. ^__^

Way too much. And if you want to do all the mods yourself, then don't buy it. Only search for a stock/near stock car. This is one thing I would HIGHLY recommend, especially if you don't want too many headaches down the road. Yes, people will be selling properly modified cars that run great. But I commend you for wanting to do it all yourself, so take the extra time and look for that perfect car. It may cost you a bit more (well, not more than that car), but it'll be well worth it.

I agree, you will get more out of it if you start from scratch.

Personally man if I was you I would not buy the car. Theres alot of mods done to that car and it dosent seem like you have much knowledge about a modified DSM. If you want something you can do mods to buy a stock car and start from scratch. Theres alot more personal satisfaction when you can say you have done all the mods to the car.

Built not bought FTW!!!

its being priced at $13,000, with 73,000 miles

ROFL ROFL

I wouldn't pay more than $8000 for it, $9000 is pushing it. I paid $7750 for my 98 Talon with 53,000 on it 4 years ago. The mods on that car will cost you probably $3000-4000 NEW. That car, regardless of year, unless it is in excellent condition and is a sparkly clean show car, is not worth 13k.

What YEAR 2G? There is a big difference in value between a 95 and 99.

Personally, I'd pass on that car. Either it is not the sellers car or he has no clue what is on the car, therefore does not know its market value and is waiting for some fast and the furious wannabe to buy a half-ass modded car.

Find yourself a stock or close to stock 2G. My car came with upper intercooler pipes and a Greddy blow-off valve. I sold both of them in 6 months.

I agree with you. if i want to learn more anyway. its best if i get a stock car and do the mod myself. that way i'll learn more and faster right?

Well, I learned A LOT and I bought a car that was already modified. HOWEVER, the previous owner did a very crappy job and either scammed me or had no idea what he was talking about. The more I think about it, the more I think he scammed me. But I learned by stuff breaking, not being installed correct, ghetto-rigged, or incorrect parts (as it had a 1g 7 bolt swap). So I've done pretty much everything on the car except take the engine out or work with any of the internals (minus changing lifters). It has been a great learning experience, especially from the troubleshooting aspect of it. But, I would much rather learn the correct way by replacing parts with the exact parts you want, not having to replace parts because they break or are installed incorrectly. And with a stock car, you can budget much more efficiently, for the most part. If it's been taken care of, like the one I posted above seems to have been, you shouldn't have to worry about it breaking. But with mine, I found so many problems just by dropping the transmission. Some I left alone (clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate should've been replaced) and some I had to do. I would've liked to do everything while I had it out, but I just couldn't afford it.

thank you for helping me find a car

Not a problem! It looks like in pristine condition to me! No cracks in the leather, just an intake upgrade, and decent miles for a '95. Make sure to check for rust if you go look at it. I don't know how Illinois cars normally are, but the engine bay has some, so I'd check all suspension and underbody. And it'll hopefully have the coveted EPROM ECU since it's a '95 :sneaky: (which if you don't want, I'll be happy to take off your hands)

Lol i dont know what that is or how useful it is, but once I figure it out and I dont need it, I'll think about giving it to you. Hey can you add friends on here? if you can show me how to add becaue I wanna add you as one of my friends. if you want to. xD you've been really helpful.

Go to a member's profile (here's mine - View Profile: snowborder714 - DSMtuners.com). Look at the top box, to the left of my picture, there will be a link under my Reputation (the little green chicklets) that says "Add snowborder714 to my Buddy List". Click that and then on the next screen click the Save List button. Then if you go into your profile, you'll see my picture listed under your buddy list, which is in the bottom right corner.

And the ECU is coveted because it is the only year they put an EPROM ECU in a 2g. This ECU is used if you want to install an aftermarket tuning chip, usually dealing with DSMlink or Keydiver.

Trust me you will want to keep that EPROM ECU. Those are like gold to us that drive DSM's. Also if you want to learn more about these cars this is definitly the place to be. Just read, read, read, read, and just one you think your eyes are going to fall out read some more. You will find answers to 95% of the questions you will have just by using the search button or asking one of us. Good luck man.

Lol! Yep, i'm starting to get the basic knowledge of it. THANKS for the support!

Wow, $13k is a lot. I paid $450 for my 96 TSI AWD with a spare 6 bolt (which I sold for $560)

But now I have more than $3000 in parts I've bought and I'm not even 1/2 way close to putting it together.
