So this is what happen, ive read the other topics and no one seems to have my problem. Turn key nothing happens except my fuel pumps turns on. If i push start the car it fires up and runs fine shut it off and then its the same thing, only the fuel pump works. Then randomly it turns right over. It seems to be a intermittent starter issue and i wasnt sure if it had anything to do with the dsmlink. The dsmlink is about 4months old but about a month after it was in it started taking to turns to get it to turn over. Now this is happening. Im thinkin about putting my stock ecu in and see if it has any problems. Any help is needed.
 
Clean and retighten both large battery cables on both ends. Check to make sure starter relay is NOT clicking (if it is check clutch pedal position switch and theft alarm). If not clicking measure voltage at starter relay. If 12V on black/red but not on black/yellow when starting, either replace relay or remove relay and jumper those 2 wires. Note: Relay only energizes (clicks) to DISABLE the starter.
 
thanks, i actually was going by what you said in another post. I took the theft alarm relay out still nothin clutch switch and reconnected the relay still nothing. I will def measure voltage tonight at the two wires and check and try jumping them together. While holding the key over and my fuel pump running the crank sensor came up on my dsmlink so with the car in the on positition i unclipped the sensor and when i plugged it back it the fuel pump turned on for maybe 3secs or so. Weird. ill let you know about the relay if not today tomorrow thanks for the help.
 
Do you hear the starter Spining? If so you could be missing some teeth on the Flywheel. My friends car was like that. He had to get out and turn the crank a lil with a wrench to line up a good tooth on the fly wheel. Then it would start up fine.

Just a thought.
 
Alright i just checked when crankin the car over i have 10.5v on both black/red and black/yellow. Where else should i start?
Greater than 9.6V on black/yellow is what you should have when starter is engaged and spinning. Since you have 10.5V and you say the starter is doing nothing, then your starter is bad. You could bang it with a hammer and sometimes get it to work, but it will just keep doing the same thing so best to replace it.
 
Try to jump the starter solenoid with the battery to see if that works and if that works you can put a switch between the two wires and run the switch inside of the vehicle that way you to the key on and hit the switch. Use a intermittent switch
 
Yes im going to try to wire a switch into it like a few others have done on here. It has 10.5 volts on both wires while trying to crank the engine over. I think my starter is a intermittent becuase it works randomly. Im going to try temping in a switch directly to the starter if nothing new starter. Oh well a new starter wont hurt seeing how the oem one just 72k.:thumb:
