I have been have this really bad hesitation/stutter problem under acceleration with my car for the past 6 months. My car is pretty much stock, has a K&N filter, No Cat, No Muffler and that's pretty much it. Im running 12 psi on a good day and we have changed about everything on the car since we got it.
My timing is set to 5 degrees btdc but it jumps all over the place at idle.
Recently I have been looking at forums about knock sensors and knock problems. We hooked my car up to a datalogger and realized whenever my car hesitated it have up to 43 counts of knocks. This is in any gear from 2000-3500rpm at acceleration only. Doesnt show any knock at idle or just cruising along.
What could possibly be causing this?
We were going to upload the graph onto the computer, but we did not know how to put it on the computer.

I am not sure about anything else but when your rpm's jump all over the place at idle it means there is too much air getting in. On top of the exhaust manifold there should be a screw it could take either flat head or phillips. Move it to the right and it should fix your jumping problem but that is about all I am good for.

OP, it sounds like you have a phantom knock issue. Most likely there is something on the car, ie: bad cv joint, A/C compressor, etc. that is making the KS go crazy. Unfortunately that's about all I can offer as far as finding it if it in fact really is a phantom knock issue.

You might consider replacing the knock sensor if you can't locate any possible sources of phantom knock noise. The KS is on the firewall side of the engine block, under the intake manifold screwed into a hole behind cylinder #2.

On top of the exhaust manifold there should be a screw it could take either flat head or phillips.
It's actually the BISS screw (by the way it's a phillips head) on the throttle body which is mounted to the intake manifold.
