Well guys,
Been straightening things out on my Eclipse. Some who have read my previous post and some may not have. Here is a quick run down.
Bought a 98 GST for a good price, P.O. had a 6 bolt dropped in it and several mods. Well he told me he had the water pump changed out right before I bought the car. After dealing with a leaky radiator and a heater hose that was not fully clamped on and spewing coolant I have a new problem.
It seems I am leaking on the belt side of the engine, already stuck my hand at the water pipe and water pump connection o ring and didn't feel any moisture so that leaves me to believe it is at the water pump and gasket. Everything seems to be flowing fine so I am hoping that the PO or whoever just didn't torque a bolt down enough and that is where the leak is coming from. Car has been run everyday for 2 weeks now and just developed this problem yesterday.
Top timing belt cover came off no problem, trying to find the bolts for the center
My question is, if I use a floor jack to support the engine and remove the engine mount as is needed, how far can I jack up the engine without damaging anything? 4 inches? more? less? Remember I am used to working on old muscle so the FWD sorta bothers me a little on raising one side of the engine.
