So me speedo quit working on me same time i had other problems going on, pulled it today and did the drill gun check. To my surprise the speedo read @28mph, but when i increased the speed of the drill the speedo needle didn't increase WTF. Does this qualify that it needs to be replaced, i haven't read anything in my searches about people experiencing this. I'm replacing it anyway, just wanting to know if anybody else had this happen when they tested theirs.

If it shows speed during your drill test, that tells me that the sensor & wiring are good. Based on what you said, it sounds like the sensor is not in contact with the drive inside the tranny, or was not seated all the way in, preventing it from being turned by the drive inside the tranny . . . :talon:

The sensor looks a little beat up, part of the outer housing is cracked and chipped off but otherwise protected by the plug itself when installed. The only thing i can come up with is that maybe when i blew my rad. hose that coolant seeped it's way into the plug where it's chipped. The gear itself doesn't look to be damaged or even worn, oh what to do :toobad:.

I can`t imagine that the sensor costs too much . . . since you`ve gone to the trouble of removing it, & it looks beat, you might as well get a new one. At least you know that the wiring & ecu. are good now since your drill test . . . :talon:

I've looked online a little bit for a price on a new sensor and it looks like the cost is @ $120 and up. A bit pricy for something that small but that's how things roll.

UPDATE: Found one for $89 at Autozone
