Vancouver,
im working on my girlfriends 95 talon tsi awd. automatic. front of the motor was leaking oil like crazy, so i pulled the motor and tranny. did the water pump, both belts, a core plug or 2, and all the seals. crankshaft, camshaft, and some on the bottom. anyways put it all together and installed everything. wouldnt start. timing was out a bit. great, so i take off the belt, and do the timing right on the second time. now it still wont start. i have spark, fuel, and timing is bang on. could i have belt a valve or two when i tried starting it with the timing off???? what am i doing wrong... and what would i look for.

did you check the compression? does it turn over at all or is it seized? also did you check the oil after it was leaking bad?

Does it crank but not catch? Is it just dead when you turn the key? Can you rotate the motor by hand?

Compression check it if its to low and you still have spark and fuel it wont start. Are both the dowels on the cam gears 12 o'clock when you do the timing?
