thank you

Are the plugs gapped right? Also how cold are we talking? You can't really compare it to a rs yeah they are the same car as for extior and interior but that is about it the drivetrain is totally different.

Are you talking about a extended crank? Where it cranks for a while but doesn't start right away? I have seen that many times. Usually it is fuel related. Possable fuel draining back to the tank due to a failing fuel pump. Also I have seen multiple fuel pressure regulators leaking.

Exactly! This only happens if the car is parked a few hours. For example if I take off the car for 15min and try to start it, it starts up without any extended cranking. Can a failing fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator decrease my mpg?

They are gapped right...

Thanks for the reply

If the regulator is leaking externally into the vacuum hose. You will never see the leak because it sucks the fuel into the engine. Install a fuel pressure gauge and watch the pressure while the vehicle sits. It sounds to me that yours is dropping. The extended crank in the time it takes to fill the fuel line back up again.

should I invest in a new aftermarket Fuel Pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I will be at step 8 real soon (2weeks) in Tech Guide: Stage "1" Power for 2G 4G63t... If the fuel goes into the engine will I smell anything when driving?

I would first investigate a little further. If you need a new fuel pump due to the fact that you are making more power than whats safe for the stock one. I guess i would stort there. But personally I would feel better if I knew what was causing the issue in the first place.

is there any other way to find out the problem without using a fuel pressure gauge?

Mine does that same thing. Normally the culprit is the o-ring at the top of the fuel pump is pinched, old, etc. It allows the pressure to bleed off into the tank as the car sits. I'm too lazy to pull the pump again, so I just kick on the fuel pump with DSMLink for a couple seconds before I try and start the car.

it definately sounds like it has something to do with fuel pressure. the only problem is it can be many things. everything listed above should be checked. also, your gas cap may not be sealing properly. you can also check the fuel pressure solenoid on the firewall.

I had the exact same problem a few years ago and come to find out it was the coolant temperature sensor located on the T-stat housing. One of the wires was barely hanging on causing a bad connection. The sensor is the one with 2 prongs perpendicular to each other.

that could be it as well. like i said before, its so hard just to pinpoint your problem

I have the same problem, started happening after I installed my Walbro and Aeromotive AFPR. I made double sure that o-ring at the pump was seated correctly too. Never had this issue before I worked on the fuel system.

When I first installed the upgrades I would have some residual pressure after shut down, but now it drops to zero immediately. The AFPR doesn't appear to be leaking fuel anywhere and I've tested it up to 20 lbs of boost without any air leaks. I suppose that o-ring could have wriggled out of position at the pump, but I just don't see that happening.

Usually not, if anything you would smell something when the vehicle sits overnight. When the vehicle is running there is vacuum in the hose on the top of the regulator. So any fuel that leaks out will get sucked into the engine. Usually what I do to check the regulator on all cars is to hook a handheld vacuum pump with a clear hose up to the regulator. Apply vacuum to the regulator and see if you can see any fuel in the clear hose. If you see any fuel in that hose, it means the regulator is leaking. I deal with these issues everyday, sometimes they are hard to find.
