I have a fully ported 2G head, 5 angle grind, 1mm over seat, bronze guides, and now am looking at which camshaft and lifters I should get.

I have compared the 280 and 288 cams and feel the 288 would probably be too much for my build. My engine is a 2.0 with 2.3L crank, Stroker pistons, .040 over and 9.1:1 compression.
I am debating on picking up my buddies T3/T4 or getting a 20G for now.

I just dont know if the 280 cams are enough, or just right?

Maybe running two different size cams? I'm just not too sure, what do you guys think?

Sorry if this has been covered, or if my post seems kinda choppy... been long day at work and very tired.

A properly built/balanced 2.3 will rev to 8k. thats what I plan on revving mine to. You could probably run it to 8500 but you are getting into dangerous territory for that on a street car.

My rotating assembly is fully balanced. I think the Eagle H-Beam Rods, and Eagle Forged crank will hold up to 7500-8000k with that setup. I just am not sure if 9.1:1 is going to be too much compression and too much for a T4 or a 20g. I'm sure this is just me worrying but I think it will be okay. I am still unsure if a pair of the 280s will be right, or not enough, or even too much. I am just going to wait it out a few weeks to see what I can dig up in threads of people running something of the same suite.

Why not go with FP3s? They were built for the stroker.

There's more to cams than just max lift and advertised duration. The cam card doesn't tell you anything about ramp rates. The FP3s have an increased ramp rate to help the engine suck in more air, since the piston accelerates faster in a stroker (due to the bigger rod angle).

Honestly, It will probably come down to cost. Not too sure yet. Still need to pay off this 2.4L stroker kit before I make any final decision.

My choice for a stroker engine will be FP3 cams as they are designed for strokers, 280 cams , specially Brian Crower are very good but thay are made for high revving 2.0 engines in mind.
