I'm planning to upgrading to a some what quiet exhaust system. I what to keep the catalytic converter also did some searching and came up with is list. Will these parts fit all together without any problems? Im planning to spend 1000 max. Thanks

Apexi N1 Downpipe

3" Magnaflow High Flow S.S. Catalytic Converter
(is there any other name brand I should go with?)

GReddy EVO2

Lowered 97 GST w/ few mods

The Apexi N1 downpipe eliminates the cat so scratch that off your list if you're gonna go with a high flow cat.

And just to correct the statement above: "You can get a full 3" turbo-back for WAAAYYYYY under $1000 with a cat if you look around".

Check out eBay exhausts, very cheap, $300ish for a full turbo-back, then get a high-flow cat, and a different muffler and get an exhaust shop or a friend to weld them in for you. Or just pick up a high flow cat and muffler yourself and have the entire system custom made for around the same price.

maybe you should tell him why he shouldn't buy an ebay exhaust. i have a couple friends that have bought an ebay exhaust and its lasted through a couple winters and is still in great shape. Megan Racing exhaust was an ebay exhaust and now look at it. just my .02

definatley dont go for an ebay exhaust.....spend your money wisely

Why don't you read the long thread on here about eBay exhausts. They are cheap, and very good for the money. Especially if he wants to possibly change the muffler, and/or add a high flow cat. Much more reasonable in my opinion to cut up a $150 cat-back then a $400+ one. :talon:

thanks for all the replies :)

but I really dont want to buy an ebay exhaust.... I read a few posts and it seems the GReddy EVO2 is a quiet muffler compared to others....

A couple of my buddies have a megan downpipe and japan import shop cat back. It is as quiet as stock but gets mean up top. One buddy has it on his gst the other on his talon awd.

Personally, I have the Apex-i N1 downpipe and Apex-i cat-back exhaust with a megan o2 housing. The cat back has a few resonators on it so its very deep and not very loud at all.
Im not sure how it sounds from outside but i really like mine, does not sound obnoxious at all..

I would imagine that you'll find that the more expensive systems have taken more time in developing their system, resonator placement, mufler shape/size length etc... things that make it sound and perform its best. You may find that ebay specials wern't built with that type of care... And as always, probably much better quality control with a more expensive item. Some ebay items just arnt always bolt on. grind here, bend here, tweak this etc...

And as someone else also said, if you shop with ebay, you arnt supporting our local vendors. Tyler.

I run the Apexi exhaust as well. It's definitely louder than your average car, but as far as performance exhausts go, it's actually pretty quiet. It's pretty easy to hear the turbine wheel fluttering out the tailpipe when the car is running.

But I really feel that it sounds pretty awesome. I've heard very few imports that sound as good as an Eclipse with an N1 exhaust. It's very deep, not harsh at all, yet still pretty aggressive. And it looks pretty good, too. The can is kind of big but it fits with the huge ass of the 2g.

If you want a quality system that won't require any kind of modifying to fit on the car, get the Apexi. If you want the cheapest exhaust possible, I think ebay has eclipsed the local muffler shop for cheap prices. Or if you have a welder, then make your own. There's still good reason to spend a little coin on a quality exhaust though.

I have the Greddy Evo 2 GET IT you will LOVE IT it is not super loud but it sounds great and deep also and added a decent amount of gain that I could tell. I like it because it makes my car look good and it won't make you sound like a ricer.LOL

I also have a Greddy Evo2 catback, but no downpipe. I love the sound of it - very deep at lower rpms, but with a very clean sound at the top. Definitely not "bling" (no chrome) but that suits me just fine. The only problem is that mine reduces down to stock pipe diameter so that it can bolt straight to the stock cat. I don't know if they make them with a 3" fitting, but if they don't you will have to cut it and weld. Overall it is a very nice exhaust, I would definitely recommend it.
