Hey guys Should it be ok if i was to reuse a cometic MLS head gasket that only has abot 50 miles on it for the most or should i buy a new one? The head was torqued to 80 ftlb with arp head studs.

This is for a 420a motor.

It should be fine if there were no problems before the disassembly. I'd torque them to 90 this time;)Be sure to tighten them slowly. Like torque them all to 30 then 60 then 90.:thumb:

I would recommend moly-lube,but if you dont have any oil will work. Be sure to chase all the threads before assembly:thumb:

K cool i have lots of molly lube. Thanxs man any one else have any comments?
Use ARP moly lube. NOT normal moly lube. The ARP lube has a specific coeficient of friction that will give you consistant and accurate torque measurements.

80ftlbs with moly is not 80ftlbs with ARP lube

With motor oil it's even worse. Torquing with motor oil will require you to increase the torque to almost 100ftlbs before you reach the same bolt stretch as 80ftlbs with ARP moly.

DO IT RIGHT.

ARP gives you torque specs for oil and Moly lube....... no need to get your panties in a bunch about wich is used, they are both effective.

Ehh. i personally wouldnt recommend reusing a headgasket. I mean rather be safe than sorry, if you are going to have the head off then put a new one on while your down there.

Uhh unless you know what you are talking about please refrain from blurting misinfo. I have first hand experience reusing a multi layer steel gasket, which is why i posted in this thread. Thank you:thumb:

JEFFGST: First off i was talking about ARP molly lube that comes with the ARP studs! Thanks for all the advise but i decided to just reuse the head gasket since it only has less then 50 miles on it and i will be
torqueing it to 90ftlbs.
