just replaced my alt 2 days ago and now my electrical system is pulsing fuel pump headlights everything

this is a common problem, mostly due to a bad/loose ground. there are several grounds that connect to the alternator. they are all on one strap. when you were installing the new alternator did you reconnect the ground?? it's on the bottom side of the alternator, toward the fan. it's just one stud on the oem alternator, but most remanufactured alternators have a screw into the same spot rather than a stud and nut. there is a bracket that the ground is on where it bolts onto the alternator that slides down into a hollow spot on the alternator housing. make sure that is grounded correctly first. if it is then it's possible you knocked a ground loose somewhere close by during the install.

btw, what size alternator did you install?? most reman's are 65amp. if you have a little too much draw on the electrical system the alternator can't keep up. that could also cause this problem. and if all else fails pull the new alternator back off and have it tested to make sure you got a good one. as unlikely as that sounds it does happen from time to time.

its a stock mitsu. alternaton but it doesnt have any of the ground stuff on it i thought it would be grounded through the body how do i hook up the ground you are talking about

I just took my car out when it got dark out it only surges when i drive when im idling or with the clutch pushed it doesnt do it
