Just finished motor install and car idles at 2200 until motor warms up and then about 900, what could it be?? maybe thermostat wires??

The car is supposed to idle a little higher during cold starts to quicken warm up (emissions mostly). As long as it returns to your set idle speed once it's warm, you should be OK.

2200 is a little high. When I first start my car here in the winter it idles at 1550-1700 for about 2 min. Then drops back to around 850. I would have to say you have nothing to worry about.

This could have to do with the Idle Air Control Valve. It is on the underside of the throttle body and has a wax plug that fails after a while. This is what the coolant lines go to on the throttle body and is part of the warm up for the car

You might need to adjust your BISS when it is fully warmed up.

True.

Also, if you added exhaust, intercooler, piping, etc. you may need to reset base idle. The VFAQ site show you how to do this. After I added exhaust and intercooler pipes, I cold not get my idle down until I did this adjustment
