Im putting my head back on and i cant find anything in the manual about specs and correct order to tighten them down in. Im using arp studs and im wondering what should i torque them down to if i was using 30w. I searched a bunched of times but nothing to concrete. I heard there is a specific order to do them on to? Any help would be great. Thanks

They recommend 85 ft. lbs. if you use 30wt oil, and 70 ft. lbs. if you use the supplied moly-lube. 70ft. lbs is 75% of the studs yield strength. So i would probably crank them to 70 run it for about 20 min. and then crank them down to like 85ft.lbs. with the moly-lube. Ive heard of people torqueing them down to 100 ft lbs, but that doesnt leave much room for expansion. As far as the tightening sequence im not sure, but your manual should have it in there. Dont go by the manuals torque specs;)

hope this helps you out
ARP Headbolts
Start at 25- then 55 lbs tightening the head to bolt down sequence.
If you are using moly lube its 85 if you are using oil 120.
After first warm up or 10 minutes of it running shut it off and retorque head bolts to 85 with moly or 125 with oil.

You finger tight the studs all the way into the block then unscrew a full turn, then torque down the head in bolt order

Think i this is the sequence, but i would double check as this is from my memory:
10..6..1..3..7
8...4...2..5..9

Tighten in order 25lbs then 50-60 then if you are using moly lube its 85 if you are using oil 120

This is for both 6 and 7 bolts

If you use moly lube torque to 85 if using good oil type motor oil its 120.

Start by torquing all down to 25 then 50-60 then 85__*/120*
85__* moly lube
120* oil

Start car for 1 heat cycle and then let it cool and re torque to above specs.

This is what the arp says for there stuff.

The one I put down is right out of the manual.

Yes you should gradually tighten the nuts down after you have chased all the threads and installed the studs.:thumb: However the torque spec i posted came directly from the arp directions sitting in front of me.

Yep i said this before

Make sure there is no oil in the holes before you put the studs in also. Oil in those holes could cause a cracked block.

silver bullit- Why do you have three posts about the same thing?

Wow thanks for all the answers they help me out alot, props to all. One thing i would like to add to everyone make sure you have a 12 point 14mm 3/8's socket when tightening down the studs because a regular 14mm socket could strip alot easier
