ok ive researched this topic a bunch and i haven't found anything that really matches my problem. but ok here it goes.

i was driving my car home a couple days ago and all of a sudden my car just lost almost all power. Well i managed to coast it into a parking lot and where it sat idling around 800rpms and sounded like it was surging. my AFC is stuck at 100% throttle and stays there even if i press the pedal. i managed to limp it home and try to test the tps the best i could (i'm definitely not electronically inclined). the tps i think tested ok. my throttle cable is working and my throttle plate is turning as normal.

the car can only drive with the tps hooked up and the pedal pressed at wot. Anything else and it bogs down and without the tps hooked up i cant press the pedal at all or it will die.

thanks for any help you guys can give since this is my DD.

Sounds like you need a new tps. Find another one to try to at least eliminate the possibility of it being the problem. If it's not it sounds like a wiring or ECU issue.

have you tried rechecking the wiring on your AFC???? What about your MAF?

my MAF is reading 3Kar when the car is off and all the wiring looks ok. and the only wire that isnt Tee'd off is the MAF orange and blue wires which are securely tied in.

does this sound like a bad tps or something else?

have you checked for any CEL codes????

...and yeah, it does sound to me like a TPS problem. Do you have a buddy that can swap TPS with you for just a few minutes to see if that cures the problem? If so that would be great.

just tried a different TPS with no luck.

damn, can it be something that works in conjuncton with the TPS?

Does anybody here know if the TPS works in conjunction with the TPS? Maybe it can be something else that causes that and it makes it seem like the TPS is at fault.:|

figured it out, so just incase someone has the same problem. i dont know why (probably a bad ground) but my negative (black) wire coming from the TPS was reading 6v while the positive wire was reading 5v. so i just T'ed a wire from the black wire to the negative terminal of the battery and voila' it started right up although it still sounds a bit lumpy but with all the gas i was dumping into it i dont expect it to run perfect. ill take it for a drive later today and make sure its OK. and an oil change is definately in order.

so to sum it up i just put in a new TPS and grounded out my negative wire from the TPS. hope this helps someone!
