idle problems

my car goes from 1100rpm to about 500rpm than back up in a cycle you think it could be the Idle Speed Control? let me know what you think and what else it could be thanks

Do you have an safc? What does your throttle say? It could be yout TPS.

Sounds like it, if not you probably need a new thermostat. I had the same problem with my 1g on cold starts, only mine idled even worse, it would bounce up and down between 1200 and 2000, changed the thermostat and pcv valve and problem solved. Let me know if it works out.

Check vaccume lines and gaskets for leaks. Try adjusting the idle screw a bit. Unplug the ISC and TPS when the car is running and see if anything changes. If nothing changes then it prob. isnt the ISC or TPS. Does it happen when your car is cold or warm?

The search option on this site is your best freind. No its not a thermostat, becuase DSM's arent like hondas and other cars where IAC is controlled by coolant temps.

1st and probably only thing you have to do is check the BIS screw on your throttle body. There is a rubber o-ring inside and it lets air escape, thus causing "idle surge" - to the extent of what you are experiencing.
