I just bought a Dejon tool intake pipe that converts my 1g maf to a 2g maf and my car runs like crap. After putting the honeycombs back into the maf I can atleast get the car to run with the maf plugged in. I actually drove it to work today : ) This is the only mod to my car besides some strut bars so my question is what is the cheapest thing I can do to get my car to run right. I know everyone says 550cc injectors but is there anyway of doing it without that? I've heard I could just use an afpr and bump it to 43 psi? I know this has been asked alot but it seems everyone is using 550 injectors and at the moment I want to keep my 450 injectors.

I believe you need an air-fuel controller to even switch between the 1g and 2g mass airflow otherwise you would be running lean and might cause some damage. I would say change it back to the way you had it before and look into getting an air-fuel controller.

epic is right in the respect that you do need a fuel controller of some kind before doing this mod. BUT. a buddy of mine did this exact swap last summer and we ran a log afterwards, it ran like crap just like you say yours did. but it was not lean enough that i worried it would cause any catasrophic failure. we just installed an afpr i had laying around and bumped the fuel pressure up to 43. that did help quite a bit, but it didnt fix it. the only way to completely fix this is with a safc, and larger injectors. any way you can get more fuel into the system is gonna help in this situation.

Thanks for the help guys I just wanted to get an intake for my car and it seemed like you couldn't really get one with the 1g maf and now this is turning into a much bigger project than expected. Do you think an upgraded fuel pump and s-afc would do the trick?

The Apexi S-AFC Version II is discontinued ... what would be a good one to go with assuming I can't get this one on ebay or something.

You probably don't need a fuel pump if these are your only mods, just something to adjust the AF, either a maf translator or a safc should do the trick. Don't take the honeycombs out either, leave em all in on the 2g mas.

Could I possibly use a fuel pressure regulator instead of a s-afc for now?

yes, that will work, but its not very effective. because you cant tell whats going on. you really need to run a log after you install an afpr. but you will be ok with that until you can get a safc or even a maft.

yes the safcII is discontinued, but you could ###### find a good used one on here. if you want a new one they now make the safc neo.

If I go ahead and buy an s-afc would I need a datalogger as well or can I do everything I need to do to make it work right on the s-afc?

Logger just logs data from your ECU to tell you what your car is doing and how it reacts to different things. It doesn't make your car run better.

I would say that you should put back the stock 1g mas and keep the other one until you can get the injectors and safc. At least you'd still be able to drive it and you'd have less of a chance of breaking things.

Can I use the 2g maf with just a s-afc and the stock injectors?

yes, you can richen the fuel up in the areas you need with the safc. but this wouldnt be the safest thing to do. at least not without a logger. if your gonna just do this and dont want to buy injectors right now then you really need to buy a datalogger. otherwise follow everyone elses advice and swap it back out for your 1g mas until you can get all the parts you need to do the full swap correctly.

43psi>???? holy #### i hope you do some internals on your engine before you even get close to that. but if you need a AFC controller. i have a brand new AFC NEO for sale i bought it for my car and never installed it because my eclipse broke. so yea still in the box. hit me up on myspace. MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/282075712 i will give you a awsome deal on it. and i can take a picture of it for you. or anyone else that is interested.
