i have a 1995 talon tsi awd i have many bolt on mods on it now its not running very good and as of today im thinking its only running on 3 cylenders but im thinking about either just buil the engine in it now or just find another from a salvage yard maybe 6 bolt maybe 7 bolt let me know what you think

I say rebuild from bottom up. That's what I'm in the process of doing b/c of a freak seized a/c tensioner that jammed the belt into my timing belt. But this is all relative to your schedule and budget. If you got the time, money, tools, and know how, go head and rebuild. You'll have the satisfaction of knowing your motor is like brand new w/every aspect over seen by you during the build. You'll know that the motor will last longer than the body. At least that's what you hope for though freak things can occur and oil leaks may result.
But if you plan on owning the car no more than 2-3 year @ moderate power, why even bother. A good condition used stock should last you for that long before you decide to rid of it. I seen used 6 bolts go for 6-800 and you know rebuilding w/the machine shop and parts cost will be twice that. Either way, good luck and hope you'll be back on the road soon.

in your case ill go by rebuilding your own engine.lets put this way: you will buy an engine from somewhere for lets say 700 bucks. What if that engine breaks ?? Then you have to remove it again, and fix that.so those 700 would be wasted for nothing. That what happened to me twice.I just took mines from the shop,i was COMPLETELY rebuilding my motor. After i took my car back,i was really happy. So my suggestion would be :Rebuild your own motor and call it a day!!!

yea i was thinking just build it but i just wanted other peoples in out first im think stroking it to a 2.4L i think it would be one fun/fast car after that

It all depends on how much money you have to spend, how much down time you can have your car down for (most of our cars are DD's so we don't have much time), what your hp goals are (if they aren't that high, there is no reason to build it up seeing as stock blocks can easily take 400 hp with the right modifications and tuning), and also how long you plan on having the car.

If you can find a 4g63t in the junk yard let me know where. Thats a great find i havnt seen that very often. Good Luck!!!! Rebuild is a lot more money then buying a jdm motor. Also if you do find a 4g63t in the junk yard thats the way to go if you are tryin to save money. If you are not worried about money do the rebuild.:thumb: Even if you rebuild the motor it always can break and then your out of alot more money. Think about it.

my goal is 600whp right now im saving so i can build it so money wont be a problem plus i have a beter car so i dont have to worrie about how long it takes im planing on keeping the car for a while and maybe turn it into a ttraack car in a few years but as of right now im say ill probley keep for another 4-5 years atleast
