Just recently my walboro 255 crapped out on me. My friend just happens to have a spare 190 laying around in his garage and has offered it to me. I'm just wondering if the wiring is different from the 190 to the 255 or is it a just a straight swap?

There is no reason not to... its not a difficult proceedure. Key issues are to sand/grind/clean to shiney metal your grounding point and to wrap/insulate/cover your connections and open with electrical tape and or shrink tubes.
