hey, im pretty knew to this whole tuning more than modding deal but i read everywhere on this site saying its very very important. so i was wanting to know whats the easiest and most convientent data logger people are using on there 2g's without paying an arm and a leg?

I use a palm lllc logger....only costed 180 for the whole setup on ebay ...logger,software,charger,dock,cable, obd2 adapter....you could putt a kit together cheaper butt I didnt wanna have to hunt down all the pieces

do you have the seller you bought your setup from? ### id rather not have to do any hunting for parts if not necessary but will if needed?

I bought a palm VX off craigslist for $20, plus $125 for pocketlogger. so thats cheaper than the ebay logger AND it is a fully supported program that logs faster than any free logger program out there. trust me you will not be disapointed.

All palm based datalogging is too slow, and for the 2g's you don't even get knock.

Save your money and get dsmlink. I have went down both roads, and I will continue to say that an safc and datalogger setup is only $150 away from dsmlink and having a REAL fuel management system.

yea but what if i wanted to get an pocket logger instead where would i be able to get one?

DSM link IS a great product BUT, it is not for everyone. do what is right for YOU not what is right for Spln_Hrd or everyone else.

You can get pocket logger from digital tuning, inc.

I believe that every ones first mods should be a boost gauge and a logger. yes you might outgrow a logger but you can always sell it for what you bought it for and you can not beat all the info that they can display for you.

I bought the same kit. the seller, romster, is a great guy and helped me out quite a bit

thanks dan, yea i read alot about both units the datalogger and the dsmlink and the dsmlink is able to do more but i heard it can be confusing to read and use. but i will ###### get one when i am used to tuning. because as of right now i have never done any. so i think im gonna pick me up a logger this week which is the best palm device to use with it?

bought one from this guy about a week ago ,don,t know what he has lefthttp://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280184413643&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:CA:31

you can use many palms for logging, but you have to have a palm that is supported by whatever software you will be useing. to simplify things: if you choose pocketlogger, they have a list of all the supported palms that you can use with thier program and cables.
the reason I went with them is because of the fastest sampleing rate for an OBD2 plug in style logger, and because I already had a palm that was supported by them.

pocket logger has a version or thier software and cabes for the 1G AND Gvr4.

a note about DSMlink:
yes I am saving up for this right now.
yes this is one of the best tuning and logging programs for our cars.

BUT!

look at your costs. lets say you have NONE of what you need to run it.

dsmlink V.2 - $595
Eprom ecu- I've seen up to $300
a laptop- whatever you need to run it- free to $xxx!

Go with a true PocketLOGGER setup. Its fairly cheap, proven to work, and is fully supported by Digital Tuning Inc.

I have PocketLogger and a Palm m105 and it works flawlessly.

EvoScan isn't very widley recognized among the DSM community (I just recently became aware of it) but it seems superior to Pocketlogger (which is what I have and is a very good product BTW). The most important difference seems to be the much higher sampling rate and the ability to actually MEASURE KNOCK COUNTS ON A 2G! But it may only work with 98-99 ECU's (still a little unclear about that). Anyway, something to consider and maybe look into.

In what things? The Palm m105? Honestly there is not much you can do about that other than upgrade to a palm that has an internal rechargeable battery (like cellphones have). Really the thing that bugs me the most about my palm isn't the short battery life but the fact that all the memory is lost every time you change the batteries. Having to reload the logger program every time the batteries die gets really old. Not to mention the fact you lose all your saved logs when you change batteries too.
