First off I would like to say I am not new to DSM's as this is my 5th one ,but i have never needed to post. I have always found what I needed from searching. Now I knew the second owner of the car. When he purchased it ,their was 60k miles on it. He took the car to ************* to have the engine rebuild ,clutch, front mount intercooler , balance shaft removed ,turbo back exhaust , air fuel , boost gauge , upper intercooler pipes ,and manual boost controller. At that time the car ran solid 13.5 in the quarter mile. My friend the second owner never drover the car hard because this was his daily driver . Now his sister needed a car and he gave it to her. She lived in California .Now let's fast forward about 6 years and 35K miles later .Six months ago I had purchased this car from his sister and now that's when the problems have started. I paid her asking price and while waiting for shipping someone hits the car. Front fender , hood and headlight were all damaged .I said ok as long as the front mount was not damaged no real harm , I will go to the local junk yard and pick up the parts. When the car finally arrives the damage was not that bad .

The driver said the car would not start and that oil leaked on all the other car he had to deliver from my car. After checking every thing I charger the battery and filled it with oil. Once I got the car to run I noticed it had a miss and it also was leaking oil, about a drip a second. I did a compression check and I had 150 151 61 148. Now I did drive the car around the block a couple of times and it still seem to have pretty good pull . So my next step was to see what was leaking oil. I took the car to *******, he call's me the next day and said he repaired the oil leak and did a compression check and said the engine should hold up for awhile just take it easy on it. They never call me to ask before they repaired it . They charged me 450.00 dollars to change the balance shaft removal kit that they original installed. They told me that they all fall apart over time .I said ok that fine I paid it and picked up my car. On the way home my friend was following behind me and he said he seen something fly from under the car. At that time the battery light came on . I was able to make it home and i checked it the next morning. It was the alternator belt so i went to the local Advanced auto and got another.

I installed the new one and within a matter of minutes it chewed that one up. At this time i knew something was wrong. I thought it was a bent pulley on the water pump so I order some used pulley's from ebay. When they came in after looking I notice that the one on my car was not bent but was installed backwards. So after righting the wrong i decide to go pick up my buddy to let him check out the car .After picking him up 2 minutes into our trip to the mall BAM BAM BAM. The car dies and it will not restart. By the sounds of the engine I knew it was the timing belt. This is all within 75 mile of receiving the car from Extreme .I order a head off of ebay and sent it to the machine shop . I also order HKS cams and 3G lifters and had the machine shop install them along with the hot tank ,valve job, and decking of the head . I said well let's do some upgrades and maintance so I order a rebuilt Original big 16G turbo and poly motor mounts . My friend also gave me his stock EVO 8 injectors. I ordered a 190lh fuel pump from ebay. A 2G Maft and Dejon tool intake pipe. I also got plugs, oil filter, theromstat ,anti freeze and IAC motor . I call******* again that said they can't look at my car for another 3 weeks .

I set up for towing and on Sept 21 2007 I had it towed . They told me they would call me in a couple of days to tell me what's going on . Now at that time they told me they would install the turbo , rebuild the bottom end install dsm link along with all the other parts and tune it for 2500 dollars .I was told the rebuild would only take a month. 2 Week after having my car they never called . I only live 25 miles from them so i drove up their after work. I talk to the guy their and he said that they were backed up and he would call in a couple of days .After a few more days no call so i called them. I was informed that my oil pump locked up and that is why the timing belt broke. he went down the list of parts I needed and made me a new invoice. After added new pistons , rod ,flywheel, and clutch my bill jumped to 5500 dollars. and he told me I would need to bring some money and they would get started. I went that night to take him the deposit . I gave him 2500 cash to start . He said in 3 weeks it would be done. I said ok see you later. 3 week go by and I did not hear from them. So after work I drove to the shop. Not only had my car not been touched but he said he had to leave and did not have time to talk to me, and to check back in 2 weeks.

I check back in 2 more weeks and he tells me that he does not know why i had low compression in that 3 cylinder and he want's to take the engine out of the car and call at the end of the week.I stop by instead of call the engine was still not out of the car. I talk to him about the price. After a long chat he told me instead of the new pistons and rods he would give me some evo 8 stuff and it would only cost me a third as much so i agree. On the paper he claimed to have torn down the car and stated i needed .20 over pistons.

After 2 more weeks of waiting I call again he stated the shop is still backed up and he has not had time to work on it. That night i saw an ad on craigslist for some new 4g63 pistons for 150 dollars . I purchased them and took them to ******* the next day. While I was their I asked if these would work . He used the micrometer and told me that they were the right pistons and would work fine . After that he told me once again the car would be ready in 2 week ,so i said ok if their is anything else you need let me know. Now this time the 2 weeks come i call the day before and ask is my car going to be ready . They tell me no the crank is bad and the pistons i gave him are the wrong size and i need .30 over not .20 and now they want to charge me like 6500 again and now i have had it. Enough is enough I told him to scrap the project and tell me how much I owe. Now my question to you is was I being rash . Here it is almost 3 months later and still no car. What should i do ???????

Yes you are being more than rational, in fact in my opinion rational would have been getting the car back a month and a half ago of their b.s. I wouldn't pay them anything, because it seems more like they haven't even touched the car at all, although they say they have. Just get your keys and tow it away. Find another shop or rebuild it yourself. At least if you rebuild it yourself, you know your not being half a**ed.
I hate shops like that, and stuff like this always makes me mad. Just my $.02

Thats BS man,I would have put an end to that after the first two times of them saying they were going to to fix it and not touching the car

I wish i could just tow it away but i already gave them cash. My friend told me i should have paid with my credit card

Last time I seen the car on Nov 26, 2007 only the head was removed . As of now I think it's safe to say that the block has been removed, only because of the remarks made about the bad crank and pistons.

I just missed having a turbocharged awd car so much i was willing to pay almost anything to have one again. You are right that was a big waste of money. I use to own a 02 Wrx Wagon, but when I got married I traded it in for a Dodge Caravan . I NEED BOOST

Dude I feel for you big time. I hate to say it but your best bet is to pick your car up as soon as possible, find out where they left off and go from there.

I wouldnt trust any of the work they did either. Take a good look at what they did (as little as it may be) before you finish the repairs.
