So I was out one day doing some WOT tunes at about 17-18psi on my 16G in my 1st gen. I was getting some crazy high rpm knock like 12-15 counts so I was trying to get timing reasonable. I finally did and decided to do a ~20psi tune. After a few runs my car started to feel like it was misfiring or bleeding off boost around 17psi/4800rpm. I brought the boost back down and changed the plugs. No change. Now I can hardly wind out first gear, it just feels dead. And in 2nd/3rd it will take me until like 4k before I get any serious spool. Then it feels like it misses hard when you have fouled plugs and I will get high knock counts and lose lots of boost/power. Mechanical timing is good, there are no boost leaks well to 25psi (DG BOV mod), the plugs are brand new gapped to .28, and brand new MSD wires. What I'm trying to figure out is what happened because something either broke or went screwy and now no matter what I do there is no fix. It just feels sluggish all around. Also the idle is all over the place. I had it dead set for 800 before this happend and now sometimes I'll idle at 1500 rpm or 400 rpm or 900 rpm and I even keep the gas on it sometimes when I push the clutch in to slow down or it will stall.

Could this be a bad CAS or ignition coil? Or...do you think my rings are shot and this is being caused by that?

I have some Link logs if any of you can read them.

From reading this it sounds like a boost leak but you said you've tested that, but it can also be an exhaust leak before the turbo, that will cause a loss in power. Post a link to the log on here upload it on a free hosting site.

12-15 counts of knock OMG thats crazy you'll blow something running like that.

I am having the same kind of issue, i have no boost leaks but i know i have an exhaust leak before the turbo. My car misses allot when its cold and not so much when its warmed up. Then it acts normal for a while when its warmed up but after about 10 minuets of driving the idle goes anywhere between 2K and 1.5K at a stop light or something.

At first i was thinking that it was the 02 sensor but that would not make sense because the car would not idle at all if the 02 was bad.

I have a question, have you been getting really poor gas mileage as well?

Pulling any CEL? When my car runs (hahahaha... *sob*) and I take a hard pull, sometimes it will just run horribly. Won't idle, can barely limp it back home. What fixes it for me is to take the coil pack connector off, clean it, and plug it back in. I read the wires back there are too short and after too many hard pulling cycles the connector gets yanked on. It won't make the CEL come on, but it does store a code. Even if it hasn't pulled the code, try cleaning the connector, it's free and takes 30 seconds :D Good luck, hope you find whatever it is. I think you're on the right track with something in the ignition though.
