So what do you guys think?

95 Talon TSi fwd (119.500 miles)

Bought for 3600$ (Body in excellent shape, engine bay looks clean, suspension/bottom has no rust either)

Invested: 2700$

New brake pads/rotors (all wheels)
New oil/plugs
New ball joint
Rebuilt half-shaft
New sway bar link kits
New A/C belt
New alternator and P/S belt
New crank pulley/harmonic balancer
New timing belt
New water pump
New balancer belt
New tires

To come:

New wheel bearing
Rear struts
Exhaust gasket

and hopefully that would be it for a while...

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Not bad just kinda expensive and a lot of miles. My car i paid 2500 for it and it only had 72,000 miles on it and it was an unmodded 96 gst

sounds like you found a sucker to sell a 2g for that cheap, hell most 1g cars go for more than 2500 these days.

to the thread starter;

sounds like you got an ok deal, and the mileage isnt bad. i dont see how you spent that much money in all that stuff unless you were paying someone else to put it all on i guess?

either way your on the right track fixing all the nescessary stuff and modifying second. most ppl forget to go that route and end up with a broken dsm. ROFL

are you looking to keep it stock or are you looking for power modifications down the road? Sounds like it has been maintained rather well, and you probably got an EPROM ECU so if you ever wanted to "chip" or "dsmlink" it you could.

Are you doing all of the work yourself? $2700 for that type of maintenance seems a bit high to me. Either way, good job on going the correct way of getting things done. Once you get some mods in there you should be more than happy :sneaky:

I agree. $2700 does sound a bit high, but at least you're showing more common sense and foresight than most. Props to you for spending responsibly after your purchase.

Well, i guess the old cars like that would need some money put into them to get them going. Of course it would matter a lot who was the previous owner and what kind of care he/she put into it. As long as you put some time and effort into the car, you'll get to know it better, you will love it more down the road AND know how to fix it faster/better in the future as well.

those were good news, thanks guys. When I was buying a car I did realize that I will run into few problems, but it just felt frustrating when I had problems every other day.
Now everything looks good tho. I will keep you updated on my future plans

i paid $1400 for my 2g TSi AWD, had a boost gauge ziptied to the A Pillar, bypassed BCS, 650cc injectors and burned exhaust valve(s)..81,000 original miles, <5,000mi on the clutch, and the tires
