searched and confused

If doing the 6bolt stroker to put in 2g what would you keep from the 1g block or can a 6bolt stroker kit be put in the 2g block (this would make things alot easier to understand) and is there a diffrence between 1g and 2g performance parts which would you use thanks

will an work need to be done to the block toaccount for.020 pistons ect.

so confused

if your doing a 6 bolt you can keep the rods but you'll need a new crank and stroker pistons, and no you can't use any 6 bolt parts from the strocker into a 7 bolt, so if your going with 6 bolt you will need a 6 bolt 2.4 crank and you can keep the stock rods but need new pistons, if you go with a 7 bolt I believe you can do the same with the rods and such just need new pistons and crank. for the specfic block your using.

7 bolt stroker is just as good and some will say are even better than the 6 bolts. I would build the 7 bolt. My friend dropped a 7 bolt stroker into his 91 GVR4 that was originally a 6 bolt.

the reason i was making this thread is becuase i read in another thread about it and it confused me and they said the 7bolt could still have crankwalk thats why i want to do a 6 bolt swap

i was looking at getting a stroker kit so i can get everything together idk if that matters or not

is there a place that shows what all needs changed to make the 6 bolt transfer and what parts are to be kept from the 1g block will anything be used from the 2g block

I would say if you get a 2g build up a 4G64 7 bolt block, since that is what I ran in my talon (look at profile) but if you get a car that has a 6 bolt just build that up. Go with the
4G64 block because it will lower the rod/piston ratios compared to making a 4G63 2.4. I would actually build up a 2.1 destroked motor for my next dsm because you can safely rev those out to 10k since the rod/piston ratios are so much lower. Also, if you were to go with that type of a setup I would reccomend a twin disk for better high rpm disenagement.

so thats my opinion on strokers with my experience

ok i some what understand that now but from this is a really stupid question qhats the diffrence between 1g and 2g performance parts and what would i use if i did the swap

would it just be easier to buy a shortblock or a long block??? and will putting in a 2.3 stroker longblock increase performance??

which has greater base performance 2.1L,2.3L,2.4L

and a 2g tranny will bolt right up to the new block????

the 2g tranny will bolt up to all of them but if you use a 6 bolt block then youll need to use a a 6 bolt fly wheel with the 2g tranny from what i beleive. also i would say if you go strocker id go with either a 2.3 or 2.4 they make awesome power theres a 600hp 2.3 that a friend owns that pulls retarded hard. also i would say youd be cheaper building your own strocker then buying either short block or long block if i were you id find a 2.4 7 bolt crank slap it into your 7 bolt block and just get new bearings, rods, and strocker pistons and call it a day crank walk to me is way over rated.

Well I still have to think about how I want to do it but does anythignhave to be done with the ecu???

In my opinion, with me coming from a stroker, a 2.1 would have the "best" performance since you can safely rev out to 10K-11K without having major issues... so say rev it out to 9K then and have a huge turbo without worring about engine longevity like with a 2.3 going out to 9K. The stroker is nice on the fact that there is SO much torque, so you'll have to decide where you want your power

As far as changes to the ECU, no. Nothing will have to be changed on the ECU. Depending on what you are tuning with, some minor adjustments may have to be made on that. As far as the block is concerned everyone pretty much covered it, like mentioned before if you are switching to a 6 bolt you will have to switch to a 6 bolt flywheel.

I have seen and helped build both 6 bolt and 7 bolt strokers. If you already have the 7 bolt block I would suggest just stroking the current block you have. While you have it apart you may also want to think about replacing your oil pump. Poor oil pressure is one of the major causes in crankwalk and also check our your oil squirters as well. Some people replace, some eliminate. Either way will help prevent crankwalk in the 7 bolt. :thumb:

Actually a 2.1 is a destroker.

ok so I was looking around and I was wondering how highcan a 2.3 be rev'd and I want something that I can use for drag racing but still keep a daily driver so now im considering just doing a 6bolt swap im a little confused do I want a 2.0 or a 2.3 stoker and does the stroker have great HP and TQ stock

I want the turbo to spool fast andbeabletohold the boost in high rpm's

I don'tknow whatim talking about
