I need help with an auto tranny problem. A while back it went into limp mode. I thought it was the tcu so I got another one and it ran fine for a couple days but then jumped back into limp mode. About the same time the check engine light came on. I read the code and it was the vehicle speed sensor.

My question is can the vss or reed switch in a 1g cause the transmission to go into limp mode. If it can what do I need to replace, the whole gauge cluster, the speedo cable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked to make sure that the sensor isnt bad. have seen that a poorly connected or coroded sensor can cause the computer to read things wrong and than it dose funky things. I would start there and see what happens. If that checks out than were going to have to start to dig deeper
