Hey all I'm in the process of looking for a track car Talon TSi AWD or the like. I'm currently driving a CTS-V and although it goes around the track great, it's expensive as hell to run...so looking for something smaller and lighter. Just wanted to introduce myself and hear any advice as to what I should be looking for...since I hate to say it, but I'm a GM guy looking for an import....any big things to watch out for with these cars when purchasing? Mods strictly for road racing? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Get an AWD talon, lazer or eclipse. Preferably a 1g(1990-1994). They are pretty cheap and they are pretty solid. Plan on some maintenance and some treaks and get a good feel for it.
 
The only advice I have is dont pay too much. I paid 3 grand for my 91 tsi and it had a new motor. now with a new raiditor and 16g turbo it runs like a dream. By the way thats a nice looking car you have!!
 
Clean CTS. Real nice.

As for your DSM hunt, you can get your hands on an 1G AWD for pretty cheap. If you like 2G's and are willing to pay a little more, go for it. Whatever your preference. Just make sure you get yourself one with a straight body. As long as you treat your DSM good, it'll treat you good back.

You can check the classifieds on the site for any DSM's in your area.
 
haha, this is looking all too familiar already. Might I ask what's been done to the V? I know they're sick but haven't really ever had the notion to shop for one, mainly because I'm a dsmer.. 400hp RWD, 6spd right? Just curious, supercharged like the XLR-V?
 
If your getting a 1g preferably Id suggest getting one thats a 92 because you may be able to get the 6bolt 4 bolt combo like I did which is, 6bolt engine with beefier rods that can handle more power on the stock block and 6bolt engines stopped being produced in 92, and 4 bolt rear end which is stronger than the 90-91 3 bolt rear end.

as for the V it's mostly stock w/ a magnaflow cat-back K&N Drop in, and a short shifter...and ya 400 at the crank 6sp....it's fun :thumb:
