I have been trying to set my timing using dsmlink and my cas.I when I click "ground timing", the timing is perfet and so is the idle....how do I make the ecu remember this?Or am I doing something wrong?

Are you running a 1g cas? The only way you can adjust base ignition timing is by running one. If you have one then.

Click ground timing
Loosen the cas
Set base ignition timing to 5 deg
Tighten down the cas and verify timing is still 5 deg btc.
Un-click the ground timing box.

Yes I have a 1g cas. When I click "ground timing" , it says i am at 5.2 deg timingIt idles perfectly smooth and sounds great. When i unclick it, the timing gets screwed up and I have a choppy idle...Im stumped.

Ignition base timing and idle timing is different, with the base timing set to 5* BTDC, your idle timing should bounce between 8-10*.

Exactly, you have to set the base ignition timing with a timing light. All of the dsmlink timing values are calculated, assuming you have the base timing set to 5 deg. Its very important to do this before making any wot pulls.

Maybe Im not understanding. To set the timing, I first clicked "ground timing" in the link>Then I loosened the cas and with a light matched the mark like this:

-
-10
- <-------------here
-btdc

The idle was perfect, and on the link, my timing read 5.2 all along at like 800 rpms. Then I unclicked the timing ground and the idle turned to shit and the timing fluttered from 7/8 deg to 16/18 deg.....Im so confused~
