Hey guys, first post...

I was wondering if replacing the stock amplifier with an aftermarket one was as simple as removing the old one and installing the new one in its place? I have a 2g gst with the infinity audio set up.

Is there a certain amplifier that would work best? As of right now, I have the stock head unit and I have replaced the front and rear speakers.

Thanks guys

Yea it's easy, the speaker leads are in that harness that connects to the stock infinity amp under passenger seat. Check the wiring diagram on vfaq.com or in the tech section here on dsmtuners. Or go to the appearance/interior section and just search a keyword regarding car audio.

Obviously you can go hardcore and redo the entire wiring if you want.

You have new speakers all around, and going with a new amp, don't bother with the stock deck, it's like limiting all your new parts you got.

Choice of amplifier is up to you and how much you are going to spend. Too many variables to list. I use to get 4 channel amp for all the speakers, and a separate sub amp for the sub. When you have a sub, the rear speakers are mostly for fill and don't really play a big role anymore. If this is the case, (and if I could do it over again), I would have just got a 2 channel amp for the front channels, have the rear speakers being powered by the head unit or the stock infinity amp (if you have the MITAH adapter). Usually 2 channel amps are cheaper than 4channels and also most often produce more RMS power for your components (that I hope you got and not some 2-3 way speakers). Not powering the rear is not as significant if you have a sub/amp. The crap deck power or the stock amp power is just enough to serve as rear fill as you tune the car's soundstage to be properly setup.

thanks for the quick response and referral to vfaqs.... thats definitely being added to my bookmarks
