Ok so a few months ago my brother was driving my dads car (99 gsx). Its fully stock, down to the airfilter and plugs. Anyway he was just "driving it regular" (my brother is notorious for destroying cars (blew a hole in the piston in his jeep, this clutch and overrevved my car)) and came to a stop light and when he went to take it out of second to put it in neutral it wouldnt budge. He turned the car off and managed to get it back into first "with force" and drive it somwhere close and then got it towed. My dad took it to the shop and they replaced his clutch. They then said that 2nd gear synchro was bad AFTER they installed it and had put everything back together. It now grinds into second unless you are at a very low speed (1-14) miles an hour and sometimes grinds at those low speeds too. Rev matching does jack, double clutching does jack and waiting for a long time before i shift with or without the clutch in does jack. The clutch pedal also feels wierd to me but my dad apparently didnt notice it. Its kinda like catching or somthing. It moves freely and everything but when you get down towards the floor it feels like there is sand or somthing making it feel wierd. Do you guys think its the synchro or could it be linkage or fixable with synchromesh?

sounds like its the sychro maybe it wasnt installed correctly but i bet thats your problem? did it grind or anything before the car broke? how did it shift before it broke? i had a non turbo 2g for a while i almost bought another one for daily but just as you the synchros in 5th and first were bad i had to be at a dead stop to get first to go in with out grinding if i was rolling with no gas i mean a super slow roll grinded. 5th gear was just as bad. I would take it back to where the work was done and have them fix it. one more thing when i had my clutch changed in mine the shift kinda crap for awhile and couldn t figure out why. I ended up going to the dealer and puting in there trasnmssion fuild and it shifted 100x better good luck

The car shifted superb before my brother drove it. I think i am going to try some synchromesh and see if that fixes it, along with a good bleeding....obviously.
