Engine Swap

How easy would it be for my 99 Non turbo eclipse to do a evo 8 engine swap into my car..ive heard its alot easier to do it in the non turbo cars but im not sure and for the 4g63 motor you just might as well buy the gst version instead of motor swaping the 4g63 into it so i wanted to know about the evo 8 motor into my N/T eclipse

Its doable/has been done but it's not easy and would cost ALOT. you are better off selling your car and buying a turbo dsm.

Im guessing thought's for doing this is just that they sit in the same way in the engine bay? Its bound to be expensive, and you could just modify your 420a for the same cost to be A LOT faster. Ive never heard of anyone doing this...if anyone has link's I would LOVE to see them.

ive read in some forums that the 4g63 eclipse can get the evo 1-3 motors then the Non turbo ecplises can have the 4-8 but im just not sure how hard it would be

Well yeahhhh. The EVO I, II, and III have the same 4G63 as our turbo'd DSMs.

well im a 420a eclipse so im dumb ... but what do you say about the thread i seen where it said the 4-8 can fit in the non turbo ones....i feel retared but im still gonna try to find this out

Yes it will fit, no it is not a drop-in-and-go swap. The immense cost involved in the custom fabrication could be better spent to modify the 420a you already have to be MUCH faster than the 4g63 you would be sticking into it. You would probably have money left over to do suspension and brake upgrades as well.

If you really must have a 4g63, your most viable option is to buy a factory turbo car.

Swaps and DSM's don't mix very well.
