1994 eagle talon motor pull

If you have access to a lift, pull the rear motor/tranny mount and you can drop it out the bottom. I wouldnt say its easier but it works. I prefer using the cherry picker out the top.

Basically its your choice and what resources you have.

thanks you guys all i have left is the rear motor mount and the last transmission bolt...are the automatic transmissions good? and will a 1g 2.0 bolt up to a 1g 1.8 tranny? just curious thanks

Bottom is easier when you remove the rear mount bracket. In my opinion. It's held on by two bolts on the block and there really tight.

I have a question and i know this is a very old post. i have everything disconnected from the motor. I go to pull it and the trnny starts comingout with it. i look underneath the motor and see 2 bolts that go to teh treansfer case. do i need to pul those out to get the motor out?[DOUBLEPOST=1411706097][/DOUBLEPOST]Also the shaft going from the tranny to the motor how do i seperate that?

Which bolts are you talking about that go to the transfer case. Are you talking about the bolts that hold the transfer case to the transmission? Do you have the transfer case still attached to the trans? Have you removed the rear bellhousing bolt under the starter? Which shaft are you talking about that goes from the transmission to the engine, the driverside axle carrier?

Yes its still attatched. I didn't want to pull the transmission. The bolt I saw were underneath the motor. I just wasn't sure if they needed to come out too. And I'm taking the axles out this morning. I never had to take axles out before to pull a motor. I'm new to the awd

The transfer case has to come off the transmission. If the car is a manual transmission than you will be better off pulling the trans with the engine. There isn't really enough room to slide the engine over enough to clear the clutch on the bellhousing. Since you already have the axles out just go ahead and unhook the shifter cables, unbolt the slave from the transmission, unhook the reverse sensor plug, unscrew the speedo cable and unbolt the mount from the framerail.

I find it easiest to pull them both out the top together, so yes bolt the trans back up to the engine. You'll need to fully disconnect and remove the transfer case, leave the driveshaft in it and set it on the ground, careful it's actually fairly heavy.

I actually left my trans in and pulled the motor without using a picker. But I pulled the head off, along with both manifolds. I used chains and some metal tubing and one of my strong friend to lift it out ancient Egyptian style LOL. You gotta be real careful though, cherry picker is much easier and can be done solo. Also make sure you label all your bolts and parts. And have engine stand ready to go( harbor freight or used) and be very clean and keep dirt out as much as possible.

That's nuts LOL. I have a cherry picker. Thanks guys it's much appreciated. I was going to pull them out separate but seems much easier to do it together.
