question about fuel air controller

hey guys a couple months back my car blew the motor and got broken into and the kids stole my fuel air controller. i was wondering what this hooks up to because i plan on buying a new motor and putting my car back to stock. does it splice into any wires that will prevent it from running once i put a nwe motor in it?
 
it should be wired in by the ecu harness. Its wired inline, so your car will still run but you should at the very least cap your unused wires to prevent a short.
 
correction, most of them run inline however the most important wire, the maf wire, is a splice. If you try firing the car with out reconnecting this the engine will see no airflow and will run like garbage as the computer will not know exact airflow...it would also throw a code


but ya also definitely cap off those wires, better yet take them right out to clean up the harness.
 
Or just snag another SAFC. If they just unplugged it and left the harness, there are people selling off the 'brain' pretty cheap, as they don't have the harness. If they chopped the harness, yeah, put it back to stock. As noted, the MAS/airflow wire is cut and passed through the SAFC (which is how it does its job), so with no SAFC there, no signal gets through. Simple as removing the splices and splicing the airflow wire back to its original configuration.
 
Yea i plan on taking the computer out and fixing all the wires to be safe.. didn't really think of it until now but I hope they didn't steal the computer too. Reason i don't want to get another SAFC is because It was confusing to use for me and I really don't want anymore problems with this car, i've had it really rough with this car.

As for the maf wire does that leave the computer and go to the sensor? how could i check that wire to make sure it's good?
