Was wondering what the better BOV is? Because I have had 3 1g BOV's (one that was brand new) and they all leak at the shaft where it comes out of the top where the diaphragm is, they sealed fine at the valve. So im either going to go with the greddy type s or the forge 1g style. Id like some input from some people that have tried both. Just want a BOV that (the whole thing) seals tight. Also was wondering if the forge unit has a reference port on the bottom of the flange like the 1g does. Thanks

I would recommend the Forge 100%. I have run both it & the Greddy Type RS & while they both worked fine for me, I see lots of posts with people having issues with the Greddy diaphragm which they charge a fortune for a replacement. The Forge doesn't have this issue as there's no diaphragm. IMO the sound from the Forge is better as its abit louder. I had to get rid of my Forge because I couldn't get it to blow off properly at full boost but that was just a fluke, that it didn't happen to like my setup. Lots of others run it without that issue. I can say Forge has amazing customer service. I bought it from one of their distributors & believe had it for about a year (because of winter storage) & couldn't get it to work correct so when I contacted Forge they said to send it back & they would give me a refund. They even refunded me on the shipping, defently a company that stands behind their product which is alot more then I can say for Greddy. I wish the Forge would have worked out for me as it was defently a nice piece.

Thanks that’s what I wanted to hear. So what was the problem with the forge? What PSI were you running? Because I plan to run 20-21psi on pump and 25-26 on race gas? Just wondering what psi you were having the problem at and what was the nature of the problem did you have the 4 different adjustment springs and shims? And what type of setup you were running, blow thru? Thanks again for all the info.

I had boost leak tested 20-20 psi & didn't get any leaks even with their lightest spring. I was running a stock MAF setup, 20-22 psi. I had tried all the springs/shim combo's. Knowing what I know know, it appears that even their lightest spring was to heavy for my setup & this was preventing it from blowing off in one burst. At full boost it would blow off in 2 or 3 bursts. I didn't try it at the time but running a larger vacuum line may have solved the issue. Also make sure to have a direct source for the BOV, with nothing else t'd into it.

Yea the flutter on the SSQV is common, often mistaken for compressor surge, it is exactly as linksys put it.

The HKS redesign is basically the same as the old one with a different exterior housing to differentiate from the knockoffs, which perform the same.

I thought I was the sh!t when I installed my Greddy Type-RS. A month later the adjustment screw worked its way out and stripped the threads along with it. I sent it back and got another one free of charge. I'm running stock boost levels and it doesn't leak but it flutters, but the crappy Dejon Type-S knock-off that came with the car leaked like crazy and would trip the CEL. Am I happy with the Greddy-RS? Happier than when it had a broken chinese knock-off BOV. But that's not saying much

Hideki, thats the greddy knockoff, not the hks. And if you read a bit, even the authentic Greddys, both type s and type rs are prone to leaking just due to design--rubber diaphram. With the knockoffs being more prone to it obviously. And a BOV; whether real or knockoff, will not cause the CEL to go on, unless it was vented to atmosphere, or some other problem that just happened to be while you had the knockoff on.

If your Greddy flutters you probably have it adjusted too tight. I believe I had to back mine off slightly even from what is was set at from factory & the flutter issue was gone. Some people go as far to remove the smaller spring to allow a "looser" adjustment. With mine adjusted as lose as possible, it still held 22 psi no problem (may have held more this is just what I ran/tested)
