I am in the process of buying a 96 gsx eclipse. The cars body is in good shape and its suspension is in fairly good condition...

but here is the bad new. someone has taken parts off of the car like the valve cover, turbo manifold, turbo intercooler piping, intake, and a few other things that i probably don't know about.

I am probably going to get the car a steel of a price, so i was wondering should i buy a whole new motor (block, head, piping, etc) or should i try and piece it back together...

I am REALLY familiar with the 420a motor and this is my first turbo...I am working on a budget (a college students budget)...how much do you think I will be set back by all of this? I really need some opinions and alot of feed back...thanks. and if yall respond act like I don't know anything about turbo's, LOL

How long has the vehicle been sitting without the valve cover in place? Is there water in the oil?

how much is he selling the car for? You might be able to get those parts for kinda cheap if you shop around a few places. People are always selling those parts used.

Definitely something to ask about how long the valve cover has been off for though... good point!

You also need to ask why the parts where removed. Did the engine run and someone wanted to upgrade some parts, or did the engine die and they where trying to swap it out and give up on it.
