Interior lighting issues

Whats up guys, got a problem I need some help with.

I rewired my gauges to get them to work (head unit ignition wire) because I dont have power running to the HVAC lights.

After I get everything wired up and working, my hvac lights and my dash lighting don't work (speedometer, odometer, etc..)

I checked the fuse underneath the steering wheel and its fine, I think it has something to do with the wiring, but when I checked the wires with a voltmeter they don't have any power.


What do you guys think could help me get the lights working again? and sorry if this has been asked a bagillion times. Thanks

i had the same problem with my laser... i just spliced the 2 wires running into it together and they were just on bright all the time when i turn the headlamps on.

the same thing happened to me when i was wiring my autometers to the illumination wire on my radios wire harness. fuses were all good. Pulled out the dimmer switch and it had a realy bad burnt smell to it. Pull out yours and just take a wiff of it and if it smells burnt you have your definate answer

Left side of your steering wheel. There are three Button looking nobs, One on the Top may be a plug. The bottom one is for dimmer.

Allright, so from what I've heard I should take out the dimmer switch (bottom of the three knobs next to the steering wheel) and replace it. That should fix my problem of no gauge lighting?

I would have to replace this dimmer switch as well correct? Where can I get a replacement? Can I custom rig something to take its place?

Lastly, to take it out do I need to unscrew the entire panel or does it just pop out?

well I just went and took out the dimmer switch and it doesn't have a burnt smell at all.

In fact, i tested the wired going to it and they don't have power either. SO im pretty much stumped

I guess im just going to have to get used to driving in the dark

Well those lights on my car but I didn't know that we had interior lights when you open the doors and stuff. Those came on the other day and i hit the floor. Why don't they come on normally? and ive had my car for almost 3 years and just saw them the other day.

Yeah its the weirdest thing, sometimes my instrument cluster lights for heat and what not will be on one day and then off the next.

I dont mind that really, at least not as much as my speedometer not working...

Should i just call an electrician? hah
